I'd get one but the film is kinda expensive imo. About $1 per film

      thats how they make $
and strange that no chinese able to counterfeit it.
nothing on aliexpress for the compatible papers… or maybe i just dont know ?
even lego has the fake version.. come on Chinese ~~!! dont be afraid of Fuji
probably cost them 3c per paper. im happy to buy at 8c

      • Ive always wanted to try something from ali express but afraid they wont work

        • +1

not the camera, im talking the paper

          • @CyberMurning: Yeh the paper Im afraid theyll all turn white and not develop

            • @StarPlatinum: hmm maybe try few? you will be surprised.. who knows they are actually the same thing, from the same factory but when they received for example order of 100,000 pack, the factory makes 101,000 and then sell the rest without fuji packaging.

              • +2

@CyberMurning: And people wonder why there isn't innovation when their entire product is stolen then undercut.

                • @joshx: I dunno, seems to me most nations stopped giving a damn when it feeds the population.

Indian pharma for example A. Benefits almost everyone too.

    • Realistically, it's around 70 cents a shot.

      • Where are you getting it for that price?

        • Well the 60 pack was ~$48 on Amazon the other day

I feel like the Instax printers make these redundant. The best thing is you can choose the best photo to print and not waste prints.

agree. without it you are gambling, most of the time if light isnt enough, the photo quality is bad

That's the entire appeal of instant cameras. It's an imperfect analog process that captures a unique moment.

Why use an Instax printer, with instant film, if you're just going to print photos off your smart phone?

Only reason to get a printer in my opinion is if you want to add to your photo collection and keep the same format/style. Otherwise there are cheaper options for printing off your smart phone.

        • Won't be too long before mobile phones come equiped with built in printers for that snapshot moment.

        • Exactly just go sit at officeworks and print a bunch of standard photos

    • +7

I've had both and there's sort of an appeal to leaving it up to chance. I mean the whole concept is a throwback already so not knowing how it's gonna turn out is another element to it.

Also the crappy processing of these cameras adds a proper retro look. Sure you can add filters on your phone but I dunno, just doesn't feel the same.

with the instax printers, or other mini printers, you can just take as many photos you like and choose the best ones to print

with a proper polaroid (fuji isn't the only ones doing it) clone, you have to pick your moments well, as any mistakes are rather costly (i think the wide version costs around $2 per photo) it just makes it feel more special, as you can't just sit there all day taking thousands of pictures, and might decide to use an imperfect photo (someones pulling a face or got their eyes closed) rather than a perfect photo.

i find it hard to describe, but it feels less artificial.

      • this is ozbargain. we don't pay for chance!
joke made while myself possessing an instax 11 that gives me the equal parts highest of highs and lowest of disappointments

      • +1

I see your point. The appeal is in the experience.

        • i think imperfect photos are more memorable than perfect ones as well. i imagine going through the pictures when im 60 + and just remembering all the times, you might find that the imperfection (not defect with the photo, but as i said above, someone pulling faces etc) brings back more memories about that day, than a perfect photo would.

i also have a compulsion to save every moment, but by doing so i lose out on the experience itself, as i am so concerned with preserving the day that i don't get to actually enjoy it while it's happening, if i have a camera that can take thousands of pictures. you'll also take many unneeded ones that may never see the light of day and just take up space on your storage drives.

Personally we got the kids the LiPlay as it has memory, and they can choose which pics to print

Takes the chance out of it

Looks like it's also on special @ $166

    Price difference = ~91 prints…

    • +1
      • Not much more to buy that LiPlay and Bluetooth to it from another phone, as well as use it as a camera

    • My kids play with our 10yr old point and shoot camera. It’s completely buggered with bits missing but manages to still capture photos, which are usually of nothing and totally blurry. But they have fun.

bought for $89 2 weeks ago and started using it already. Is there a way I can claim the difference?

    • live chat with amazon, no harm in trying to get a credit

  • Is the bundle better value at 129 than camera only?

^ this clearance seems great value at $20, however unlikely stock anywhere
