Use Friend/Family PayPal to Satisfy Credit Card Spend Requirements

Potentially a dumb idea, but to satisfy credit card spend requirements for frequent flyer points, can't you get a friend or family member to send you a PayPal invoice for something arbitrary, pay it with your credit card, and they withdraw the money and give it back to you?

I'm guessing there'd be some fees involved but it would be a lot less than the spending requirement.

  • Why not just buy on their behalf and get them to pay you back whichever way is convenient.

As long as they are trustworthy.

2.6% fee on the transaction..plus possibly fees to withdraw to bank acc.

stripe or square are more cost effective.

  • Jeez what minimum spend are you gunning for that you need to resort to this amount of stuffing around?

  • Just give me your card and I'll make the minimum spend requirements for you.

The easy way to spend is just to pay your council rates.

The other option is to overpay your council rates, then ask for a refund. Most can't refund back to cards and just process a bank refund. Learned this when I accidentally paid two of our properties at once.

    • I like they way you think. Although, @OP please check if the minimum spend requirements exclude payment of bills/councils/tax etc.

  • just go and buy supermarket gift cards and spend those instead.

especially if you can get them 5% or 10% off

    • Sounds like they don't actually want to "spend" to qualify.
