I have this jacket and am very happy with the quality and the warmth. The only con from my perspective is no hood. I did not want to buy traditional down due to concerns about sourcing the feathers and this is a lot cheaper than recycled down.

For anyone on the fence, Marmot is a great brand in my past experience.

    • Better than Mammut? Or you prefer Marmot?

      • I've never had a Mammut. My Marmot has served me very well over the years though.

  • How are the sizes like? Are they normal fit ?

    • Standard sizing. I wear a medium in most jackets and a medium in this one

Can you use the 3m insulation in walls?

    • +1

Yes - just replace it with pink batt insulation in the jacket.

Use GETWILDER to get further discount.

    • Is that a generic 5% coupon?

  • Mammut or Marmot? That is the question!

    Mammut = Swiss
    Marmot = US

    • Which Brand is Better?

Both Marmot and Mammut offer high quality and high performing products that are weather-resistant. This makes it a bit difficult to determine which one is the best.
Marmot offers product warranty and utilizes innovative technology in their products, which are lightweight and are available in a variety of designs and colors.
Mammut also utilizes premium materials to create their products. Their designs are stylish, durable and also available in a variety of options and colors.
Both these brands utilize environmentally-friendly and ethical manufacturing processes. They are also working further towards utilizing products that do not harm the environment. However, Mammut does offer more affordable options overall when compared to Marmot.

      • Lol .. I've read this before! very familiar!

        • What are you trying to compare this jacket to? The brands themselves are on a similar tier of quality.

          • @wittyusername: Yes .. just always confusing … anyways I prefer Mammut as a brand preference

Use code “9008790634” to knock off another $5

    • Thanks. I was on the fence until I saw this.

      • Can't stack with get WILDER though?

        • Nah I couldn't stack or use any other coupon, maybe because I had an existing account. But the code above worked for me

    i need feathers

    • +3

      i need advanced synthetic materials

    • birds need them more than you do.

      • i get my feathers from dead birds. correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't think they need it at that point.

  • Aren’t jackets featherless by default?

    • Normal jackets yes, puffer jackets maybe not.

seems to be back to $134.95 now.

damn missed this, curse you western Australian time zone

    Deal expired quick, no?

    • It looks like it was probably a price error. The women’s equivalent was $135 from the start. It would be hard to buy now knowing it has just been cheaper, but it’s a very good jacket even at $135

    • Price has gone back down again

  • Thanks op. Purchased

Would loved to have one, these are really warm like North Face

How can you compare feather to polyester??? There's reason people used feather.

    • +7

They each have different strengths and weaknesses. Down packs down better and has greater loft/warmer for equivalent weight, but it does not dry easily if you ever get it wet. So if you are hiking in wet conditions, synthetic can be preferable.

There's also the fact that harvesting of down (if not recycled) is a not exactly a cruelty free process, but then on the flipside the synthetic fill is derived from petroleum (if not recycled) and so has its own downside.

        Which is more comfortable though?

Price is back to 74.22. Use: 9008790634 for $5 off, courtesy of another commenter here.

    • back to $134.95 as of now

      what a wild ride lol

Was also pleasantly surprised to find it was back to the original sale price after having missed out this morning! The one time browsing at 3am pays off :) Fingers crossed I ordered the right size!

Thanks for posting, OP. The recycled/featherless factor swayed me (as well as being a great bargain)

  • How does it compare to the Macpac jacket?

Also price is back to 135

    • I prefer my Marmot to my Macpac. The Marmot is warmer, but lighter. It also washes much better, found that my Macpac was very clumpy after washing, the Marmot springs back to shape much easier.

  • Are these made in China or USA?

Its free delivery but does anyone know if it includes free returns if there are any issues?

    • Free returns. Need to pay return postage though

  • "… It features 3M Thinsulate Recycled Featherless Insulation that is made with 75% recycled loose-fill fibers, which feel just as warm as 700 fill power down, but still perform in wet conditions. …"

What does all this mean? Is the filling 100% duck/goose down or synthetic (petroleum) based?

    • It is synthetic and the synthetic fibres are made from 75% recycled material

  • Do they come with the inside silver thermal reflective lining that I see on some of the newer model puffer jackets?

    • No, these have an ordinary lining

      • Thanks
