  • Surely there is a cheaper item you can get?

  • This or the Samsung Oddysey G52A recently for $300?

    • Curved screen, 1.4 display port. The g52a has flat and 1.2 display port.

Extremely odd to compare the specs of the ports for the monitors? Anyway G55A is VA panel whereas the G52A is IPS

        • Ports matter slightly cos DP1.2 cannot do 10bit 165hz 1440p, only 8bit

          • @trulymadly: Does it matter when the G52A is only 8 bit + FRC ? it doesnt even have true 10 bit

            • +1

@DrDogRespect: The use of dithering is far less of an issue than the response time performance of the VA panel implementation… it's a joke.

The G52A is mediocre, while this is just bad.

      • Is there anything better at this price range or would you have to increase your budget?

        • For VA there is still the Dell S2722DGM via eBay, just not at its usual $300-$329 sales bracket this month.

For IPS, there's a few in the sub-$400 category, including the usual Dell, but nothing I'm aware of near $300, if that deal is still active.

I would describe the motion performance of both Dell models as superior to the G50A/G52A.

          • @jasswolf: Thanks for your recommendations. Don't think I'll pursue buying a VA panel.

            • @Phlume: Keep in mind the Dell is one of the exceptions, not the rule.

Basically trading small amounts of dark smearing and mild viewing angle concerns as a secondary, versus more powdered trailing and way less contrast.

More motion content tends to get preserved with the Dell VA.

    • Is this currently available?

      • Currently out of stock on Samsung. Available at other retailers at double the price.

  • So many negative comments. This seems like a really good deal, no?

  • Does it have local dimming though?
