  • Oooh. Nice price.

    Cheap 3060!

    • +1

      Max Q version

      • +2

What do you expect, seriously? People just 🤦

        • +9

Just pointing out 3060 and 3060 Max Q are basically two different things.

          • +1

@Nathw: Well technically the 3060 MaxQ is just a lower TDP 3060. However, looking at the actual wattage is more important than the Max Q tag.
For example, the Dell Inspiron 16 Plus has a 3060 with a 60W TDP yet is NOT listed as "Max Q"

      • +3

It's good that they actually say it's Max Q. I don't think NVIDIA officially uses it anymore.
TDP is 75W + 5W Dynamic Boost. Pretty low but not the lowest I've seen and considering size and weight (1.86kg), it's not bad imo

Benchmarks show 10-20% less performance than the average 3060 laptop. Pretty small sample of games tested though.

$746 with 144hz display is not bad.

      RX5500 Performance isn't great but at $750, it's a bargain.
If you're just looking for the cheapest gaming laptop, then this is it.
Good for esports or older titles. Will work with new release AAA if you dial back settings and don't mind lower framerate/resolution

Edit: A more in depth look at the laptop here but note conclusion is based on the original RRP which was bad value

      • Is the RX5500 a big upgrade on a GeForce 940MX?

        • Yeah that would be a huge upgrade.

          • @FireRunner: I hate my current laptop because it has GPU throttling.

  • Max Q or this one better MSI SWORD 15 i7-12700H 16GB 512GB RTX3050 ?

    Difference pls

    • +4

Sword has 12th Gen CPUs which is a major step up from the 10th in the GF65 Thin. The 3050 is definitely weaker than the 3060 even Max Q.
GF65 thin is also quite a bit lighter at 1.86kg vs 2.25kg for the Sword.
For gaming, the GF65 thin is much better value. If you need the extra CPU performance the Sword is the better option

        Thanks for the insight.
I mainly need gaming Laptop for Euro truck stimulator.
        Much appreciated.

      • +1

which would be best for warzone?

        • Nearly every game would be GPU bottlenecked so the GF65 with the more powerful GPU will be the better option.

  • +3

I bought gf65 1.5years ago and still running fine. Most games in mid to high settings. The weight is perfect too with 3060 inside. It does get hot when gaming for long but does not bring down performance.

Only thing bear in mind is it only has hdmi port

    • Thanks
      Just Hdmi port?
      So what port is missing?

      • Display port, so if you use an external monitor, you are capped at 144hz.

      • No DP port so capped at 144Hz or lower for external monitor.

    • +1

Whats the problem with only HDMI? It has USBC too

      • Doesn't look like it supports displayport over USB-C
You're limited to one external monitor over HDMI

      • No DP port so capped at 144Hz or lower for external monitor.

Thanks OP, nabbed one as my 9 years old Toshiba almost, just almost gave up after taking few hits, USB ports and screen joints being wobbly and the boys created a black void in the screen that covers whatever I need to read.
    Well…

  • +1

hi would these be much faster than a 10th gen i3-10110U

  • Thanks ,for say video conversion which would be fastest thanks.

    • Won't make any difference, even if with lower GPU/CPU , that's not the bottleneck usually

  • Excellent; I've been waiting to see some new laptop deals. This one ain't it, though. Here's to some more around the corner.

  • The 3060 is sold out. Not super surprising.

    • Don't know if it's because the store changed "Quantity" at 12:30 today…

      • Interesting. Looks like there were only 3 sold today. Maybe they decided it was too cheap.

Display panel is again the Achilles heel of both models. 62% sRGB is unacceptable.

If that's acceptable to you, there's been better deals recently with more recent CPUs.

    • I'm after a cheaper work laptop have you seen any decent deals? I've had a look but can't see much thanks in advance

    • here's been better deals recently with more recent CPUs

      Such as?

      • +2

The mysterious 'better deal'. Usually if someone actually does link it, someone else explains why it's not strictly better.

      • There has been a steady stream of 5600H laptop deals with either a 3060 or a 3050 Ti at $900-$1200 for the last 6 months.

        • What make/model? I recall the Acer Nitro 5 with 3060 for $1100-1200 but they were Intel based. Generally only 8GB RAM too

  • Is this an RX5500 or RX5500M?
    Edit: RX5500M, so RX570/GTX970 equivalent.

Video with gaming benchmarks using same GPU.

  • Owned a Bravo 15. The display is bad but reasonable for this price. I purchased this when Coin was on peak, it took me approx $ 1k3 :( .Built Quality is average. Nothing good, nothing bad, just average laptop. RX5500 is ok for casual gamer, can run pubg at 75fps with low setting.

  • Given the same price, are gaming laptops better than normal one for everyday usage excl. gaming? TY

  • Bravo they are back

  • Is the gf65 better than the previous lenovo 3060 deal?

  • +1

Interested in MSI Bravo 15.6" at $746.17. For everyday usage, is it as goodas normal non-gaming laptop?

    • I'd say yes, thats why I bought it, browsing, videos, ms Office… I don't game but found the performance is occasionally affected by integrated or lousy GPU being the bottleneck. And at this price it's cheaper than buying a business oriented laptop

      • What would you say in comparison to $799 ex-demo LENOVO IDEAPAD 3, 15.6" FHD 1080. 6 CORE CPU, 512GB SSD. BACKLIT, WIN 10/11 PRO on ebay. Thanks.

    • A dedicated GPU is a bonus over integrated graphics. The only consideration is it uses more battery, but that can be mediated by turning the GPU off.

      • +1

Most of the time the integrated graphics will be used and dedicated GPU be turned off automatically. Disabling the dGPU probably won’t help much if at all.
The CPU in gaming laptops is often far more power hungry than standard laptops. You can extend battery life by disabling turbo but it will still consume more battery than a non-gaming

        • This one has the 5600H, the 5600U is about 1/3 tdp by comparison, 15W vs 45W. My 5600H/3050 laptop has sucky battery performance.

          • +1

@Jimbuscus: so which one is the better? I am a bit lost as I don't understand these terms.
What would you say in comparison to $799 ex-demo LENOVO IDEAPAD 3, 15.6" FHD 1080. 6 CORE CPU, 512GB SSD. BACKLIT, WIN 10/11 PRO on ebay. Thanks.

            • +4

@amorn: The MSI Bravo has the same CPU, isn't refurbished & has a bonus GPU which can be turned off, for cheaper.

I would strongly recommend this $746 with RX5500M, over the Lenovo $799.

  • Anyone know whether this supports display port and charging over the type c port? also screen brightness? couldn't find anything on the msi website when i looked the model up.

  • Can you change/upgrade ram for the $750 laptop? Thank you

    • Pretty much all these machines can be upgrade on the ram and storage side.
