    Recent 20% increase.

Agreed, last 1/2 price sale was $10. Thanks but no thanks Coles

I've found an alternative 10kg bag of jasmine that sells for $16. It is grown in Vietnam I believe, but the company is WA owned.

    • +5

      Yeah it's (profanity)!
People who think these price increases are a result of inflation, it's actually the other way around!!
      20% increase!! Crazy!!

      • +3

these increases will lead to higher inflation than what is currently reported. Double digits possibly. Milk has gone up 15%.

Only saving grace would be an oil price crash

        • Correct. Agree

Coles home brand 900G rolled oats only $1.65
Just the packaging differs from Uncle Tobys…
      and of course the size/weight
Its an everyday of the week bargain…..
Twice as much for 1/3 the price!!!!!!!

      Nice & Natural Nut Bars
      Were $4.00 ($2.00 on special)
      Now $4.75 ($2.35 on special)

By my calculations thats a 19% increase in price!

So much for the government's claimed 5% inflation rate

      Hundreds more such examples

How about home brand milk going up from $2.60 to $3.10 this week
Thats the second increase (from $2.40) in the last 12 months
Thats a 30% increase for milk
And the flkow-on effect to other dairy products

Cheese is up 50% in last 12 months.

      Whats my point?
These weekly specials are a coverup for big price increases!

      • +2

Exactly. Disgusting psychology at play. Both Woolworths and Coles should be boycotted. But then, where else to shop? I do whatever shopping I can at Also but some products are not that great and you can't but everything there. So basically the consumer is screwed, and the big two know it.

        • Aldi is no longer as competitive or as good as they once were
Many items that where 50c to $1 or more cheaper at Aldi are now only 10c cheaper.
And in some cases Aldi has become more expensive!
One such exampe are their frozen meat pies.
Once 30c to 50c cheaper, they became more expensive than Coles. Now they only 10c cheaper.
Another exapmple is thier 1kg cheese.
It was $6 when Coles was $7.50 or $8.00. Now its $8,90 and total crap cheese.
Wollies is $9 and a much better cheese.
Same with thier 24 roll toilet paper. same product at Coles now just 10c more. It was $2 cheaper at Aldi a year ago..
Then you have the major issue of near non-existant fresh food rotation and removal of expired product.
Seems nobody does this at Aldi. You really need to check the use-by dates on every fresh food item
Its got to the point where its no longer worth the extra trip to Aldi in my opinion

      • They do specials every week though, pre-inflation, during inflation and will continue to do so post inflation

        • Thats correct and always the best time to buy
But how often do you see items go up in price then go on special almost immediately.
          Thats my point
Specials are just covering up rapidly rising prices.

          • +1

@HeWhoKnows: The same items go on special on a rotation basis. So eventually prices rise for items regardless if they go on special or not.

Man, this sunrice used to cost at full price back then, now its half priced after few years later! Crazy times!

Avocados cheap in 2022 whole lettuce is outrageous

      • +1

The new reason millennials can’t afford houses, we keep buying lettuce.

      • +1

They should just say their is a shortage of avocados and watch them fly off the shelf for $8 each

    • 2kg pack of rice at Aldi was $2 last year.
Now its $2,80 and never on special.
      Same at Coles and woolies
      Isnt that what you mean?

From this comment last year, I found SunRice Premium Topaz Jasmine Rice 20kg among Asian groceries in Bankstown for $40. It's REALLY fragrant - I can smell it throughout the house whilst it's being cooked - and more importantly, grown in Australia.

    • How does it compare to Thai Jasmine?

      • +1

Nice, soft & fluffy - did I mention fragrant ?! It depends on your personal taste - even the Thai jasmine rice varieties differ a lot from brand to brand.

  • Cheap peanut butter. Best PB deal since the last Coles Mayvers $2.5/375g?

    • +4

Update: it's trash PB with added 15% vegetable oil. Don't get this stuff ever.

      • Actually never thought about this, what's your pick for peanut butter?

      • Our household only likes the Bega one.
I like the Bega Natural, in the glass jar but no one else does so I get voted out.
        No one liked Mayvers.
Woolies had a cheaper brand than Bega, same taste in ingredients, of course they don’t have it now and filled the space with more Bega.

        • Bega Natural sounds good! Get your own jar for yourself mate. They have long expiry.
