Trouble Sourcing 19V Powerbank for Positive Grid Spark Guitar Amp

A few people have been converting their Spark amps to wireless, however, I've been looking around on eBay/Amazon for the last couple of months with not much luck. Most are laptop PD chargers with USB-C. Found one or two on Amazon but they were ridiculously inflated in price ($400ish).

Anyone know where can I buy a 19V powerbank with a 2.5mm pin type plug? Magnetically attached like the one in the video would be a bonus!

Thanks for the links, but those are plug-in power adaptors, not power banks. I'm trying to make the amp wireless.

  • Don't bother with USB-C PD battery packs, your amp won't support the protocol to allow it to work.
If you are happy to make it yourself, you can connect a few batteries in series to reach 19v.
It looks like it draws about 40 watts, so even a pack of 16 AA rechargeables would likely power it for the best part of an hour.

    • Ooh! A Ozito 18v Battery would power this, if you connect the right 2.5mm plug. That way you could get the charger without mucking around.

    • Good tip about the switching, they used to sell ones on ebaymazon with physical toggle switches to select voltage, but it seems those are no longer available :/

Just as long as you get something that can do the USB C 20V, then the adapter will negotiate to 20V and give out about 19V through the barrel connector. Pick the right inside and outside dimensions as needed. Then you could have either a 240V GaN charger, or a powerbank/battery that can negotiate up to 20V.

  • Have heaps of Ryobi one+ batteries around and did consider them, but they're just too bulky compared to a slim power bank that can be stuck on the side. Plus they can't be charged without bringing a dedicated charger along.

    Try poking around on Aliexpress.
This looks like it might work, but you need to add the 18650 cells:

    Doesn't look inspiring quality, however!

    • Ahahaha old school type power banks! Very nostalgic! I'll have a poke around to see if I can find any li-po ones. 👍

  • Buy this one mate. I'm using it while charging the phone / tablet to keep it on. Otherwise it auto turns off after about a minute if not using.

    • Thanks for the link. A bit expensive for something that won't work with USB-C laptops, but it does have 20V output after all.

I've since hooked my amp up to a ryobi one+ 18V battery. Looks clunky but it goes forever on a charge!

      • Hi, just stumbled on this post. I have a new Talentcell NB7102 battery which most people use as a powerbank solution to make the Spark portable. Includes DC cable and a bunch of various tips. Get yourself the stick on magnet mounts and you've got an elegant portable solution. Message me if interested. Cheers

        • I'd like to know how much you want for this. Sorry, can't private message you, because you have the setting disabled.
