    • Read through the reviews on that one pls - it seems to be a grey import. There is another option which seems legit and $1600+ on Amazon.

      • Those reviews are from the UK, so probably a different seller.

        • Fair call. No comments from Australia, so a bit skeptical, fwiw. 😊

@emgee: Actually that Amazon seller ACSTechnology is Australia Camera Sales, I bought gear from them before. No problem with them. They sell Aust authorised stock AFAIK. Their website is https://acstechnology.com.au/

  • I paid $1299 not long ago from camerahouseaust ebay

    • Ah wow, that’s a great price! I’m now wondering if I should cancel mine and wait longer! 😅

Also, checking, it was for the Sony E mount yeah? I’ve seen the same lens for Canon / Nikon to be cheaper - can’t understand why though!

        Yes Sony E mount.

    • What do you use the lens for?

      • Hoping to do some wildlife/bird photography.

        • I was about to ask… The 5x is a telescope and its Certainly not fast…

          • +2

@tonyjzx: The lens isn't that slow when compared to the native Sony or Sigma offerings. Although they don't have an exact 150-500mm for comparison, the Tamron's aperture ranges are within half a stop of the others - not much at all. I'll be more interested in other things like sharpness, focusing speed, ghost etc..

Yeah okay. Slow moving wildlife might be okay but unless it's super bright out if you're really pumping the iso bird photography at these apertures must be tricky!

          • @dust: I guess I’ll have to try it out. Reviews everywhere seem to be quite good, hence taking a chance. Hope it’s not a regretful purchase! 🤨🥸😊

            • @emgee: i assume the camera body itself has OIS?

but i get ya, iof you want f4 or better then the lens is now $4k+ and its huge…

              • @tonyjzx: Yes, I’ve got a Sony A7 MIII, and that does have image stabilisation, if that’s what you were asking.

And anything at a lower f-stop will certainly be $$$. Can’t afford those especially for the limited use I put this gear to! 😅

          • @dust: How slow/fast/accurate is the AF though, that's the more important aspect and if you wouldn't mind, what body is your lens mated to?

          • +1

@dust: Actually f6.7 is fine for bird photography. It’s the reach that’s more important.
