Where have you looked? What do you consider expensive? You can easily get a wireless mechanical keyboard off AliExpress for $50-$100. Keychron boards go for $120 or so.

If you're talking about brand name ones like Razer's or Corsair's, of course they're going to be expensive. You're paying for the branding more than anything else.
Also, bear in mind there's some R&D cost in reducing latency with wireless like Logitech Lightspeed. From memory Keychron's latency is far greater than lightspeed.
