  • sorry a noob question..are these good for asmr videos?

    • +3

      no

    • +1

Blue Yeti is what you're after.

      • Thank u.

      • Blue Yeti X good value for money. I picked one up for $157 October last year but in the process of returning it to Amazon as it didn't serve me well for gaming or streaming.
It's excellent for podcasts or capturing surround sound.

  • Better than Samson Meteor MIC I got for $25 ???

If so how much better ? Watching YouTube reviews I can’t tell the difference …

    • Then you need better headphones, but truthfully this is an $80 mic on value.

Didn't the Samson deal turn out to be a price error?

      • nah I got the Samson. and I should've specified - on reviews on YouTube, I do see a difference but I am unsure if it's just me, my speakers (Edifier) or otherwise. Not an audiophile so was after someone with experience / knowledge.

Samson sounds good, but was just curious

  • So this going to block out sounds like ones PC fans etc or need a particular type of microphone to do this?

    • This will pick up pretty much everything around you

    • get a boom arm, put it close to your month about a fist away. then turn the mic volume on your computer down to about 1/3. It will not pick up any noise.

same goes for Blue Yeti, which is super sensitive to noise

      • This would turn down the sound of your voice too no?

        • +1

that's why I say to put it close to your mouth, like using a dynamic mic. the closer it is to you, the more you can turn down the mic volume. This mic is actually pretty good, I switched from blue yeti to this, cos it's lite and small, so I can take it on the road with me if I have to record podcast remotely, I can use it with my phone. And the USB-C connection is just so much better than Yeti's micro and mini USB connections.

The free PC software is also very good.

          • @optusprime: I see i see, thanks for the info

          • @optusprime: Thanks, so beat of both worlds by messing around with mic volume settings, don't mind sticking my face right into mic covers most of the uglyness, what happens when one gets too old lolz

  • Damn there's so many mic deals, so we have the Hyperx quadcast, rode mini and shure mv7.

Would the shure be the best choice for singing / talking? This and the Hyperx comes with a tripod though xD

    The dilemma is real here…

    • +1

Not a professional singer here. But for untreated room you need a dynamic mic. Period. I started with a rode nt-usb. Moved to shure sm7b, just because I got a good deal from here. [Samples mostly not in English]

    • The big issue with singing through USB mics is you have no real gain control.

If you want to sing loudly, you'll either be too loud and distort (clip) or have to move further away which affects the sound. If you want to sing quietly then the signal will be weak.

It will cost more, but I'd recommend going for a basic audio interface and an XLR mic if you're at all serious.

  • I have one of these and it is great for a clean set up.

Problem is that with the Mac Studio, it does NOT work. The audio distorts, thought it was a firmware issue and now it works for about 10 seconds before the mic input goes on a loop.

Works fine on my other Intel Mac and iPad Pro M1.

Support has no idea what the issue could be.
