Everyone loves ultrawide monitors and this one from PRISM+ seems pretty good if your budget is $1000. While I'm unsure on the panel used in this the Pro model uses the Samsung LSM490YP02 panel so it's likely this is a Samsung VA panel too. On PRISM's product page you can see real photos of the monitor in the reviews section at the bottom of the page.

The quick specs are 49" screen size, DFHD 3840x1080 resolution, 32:9 aspect ratio, 144Hz refresh rate with AMD Adaptive Freesync support, HDR with 400cd/m² brightness, height adjustable stand, VESA mounting support and HDMI/DP.

that's their normal price, keep seeing them on my facebook feed

    3840x1080 is not ideal

    • +3

Its the equivalent of 2 x 1080p monitors combined into 1. That's pretty ideal for a dual screen setup replacement.

      • +1

        38" is 3840 x 1600, I wouldn't want to lose that vertical resolution

        • +1

Yeah, and the fact that you could get 4x 24 inch 1080p monitors for the same price.

What I really want is 2 of these 49" monitors stacked in one with the 51XX x 29XX res.

          • +1

@Mechz: Agreed. If we just got some more vertical space on the true super ultrawides (not this junk) it'd be perfect.

        • If you're going from 2x 1080p monitors you're not losing any vertical resolution.

Not sure where your 38" part of your comment came from either?

      • Diagonal and resolution is identical to 2x27" FHD 16:9 monitors which can be bought for less than half this price.

        • But then you've got 2 monitors, not 1, which is not the same.

I've got an ultrawide monitor, replaced my old 2x monitor setup, and it's far better.

How is is 4k ? Bit deceiving as its 1080p

    • More like a mistake on my part. DFHD is correct as per the listing so I've fixed it.

49" at 1080p yuck. If you're going to spend that much spend a little more and get a Samsung or AOC and 1440p.

AOC is $1,399 normally I think.
Samsung CRG9 was under $1,500 at Officeworks not long ago I believe.

    Yes it's more but 1080……

    • Agreed, I don't really think this is a good buy, and pretty sure this is the regular price (not certain though).

      • +1

Pretty sure it's $999 on Facebook ads all the time? Has fake RRP though. $1,999 is laughable

        • +1

Yep, I basically said same above and was downvoted

for this price you could buy 2 lg 27gp83b or any other $500 ish 2k 165hz ips panels and put them side by side

  • using this monitor for editing and multi tasking 43inch 4k IPS sRGB. it's been fantastic https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/184649802036

I use this for my home office. I use multiple Excel data sheets and Microsoft project all of which I appreciate the unobstructed screen real-estate.

This is on par with the cheapest I've seen, but $100 better as it's free delivery. I felt like PRISM was a gamble at the time of purchase but did what research I could and am currently really happy with the quality. If I had to be picky the remote feels cheap.

Re: resolution comments: I game on an LG C1 TV, I dont mind the 1080 res for work applications. I preferred to put that extra $500 (for the Pro) towards the LG C1 TV.

I use this desk mounted with: https://desky.com.au/products/heavy-duty-single-monitor-arm.

Get two normal monitors for that price and at least you can extend or clone displays and multitask like a pro.
And you can change the orientation of one or both!

    • +1

      extend or clone displays

      What?

One ultrawide is the equivalent of an extra extended display.
How would cloning an existing display increase productivity?

For Windows you can use PowerToys to create any tiling layout.
For Linux tiling display managers are ubiquitous.
MacOS has decent defaults and also has tiling managers.

      Actual tips to

      multitask like a pro

      I reckon it's less than $500 for 2 FHD monitors or even 2 * 4K monitors.
49" is equivalent to 2*27 16:9 monitors side by side

  • Too bad its not 1440P

  • How many of these would you need before you had a full 360 wrap around view?
Cause that would be freakin awesome
