Recommendations for Internet + Electricity Bundle (Moving out of Home!)

Hey everyone,

Moving out of home in a couple of weeks and looking for recommendations for home internet and electricity deals. Its pretty overwhelming so looking for some advice. My situation is:
- 2 people small apartment
- FTTC NBN
- Work from home so thinking NBN 50 will do
- Netflix streaming, teams calls and general browsing no gaming

Trying to save as much as I can whilst also getting decent internet. ABB, Exetel and Superloop seem to be popular with Ozbargainers but mixed review for each of them.

I also need to get electricity and my mum mentioned companies like Dodo do deals if you bundle together?

Any help is appreciated - Thank you!

ABB are number one for rock solid connections and local support but comes at a price. Superloop have far more competitive pricing at the moment though so start there for first 6 months at least. Everyone else is a reseller and can have flaky bandwidth and support.

    For Electricity/Gas use: https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/

    • Awesome great website will check it out thanks!

      • +1 on ABB, speeds effectively have never dropped below advertised min, and when they do its at worst like 40/90 download on 50/100 plans.

Superloop and abb are great. Have had pretty average experience with anyone else.

  • More Telecom has the best prices at the moment if you are a CBA customer.
    30% off for 12 months.

There speeds are better than what I was getting with Superloop.

To compare electricity, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/
    Victoria only https://compare.energy.vic.gov.au/

The Vic one comes with a $250 rebate when you use it…

  • Origin bundles Aussie Broadband together at the moment $10 off each month if you bundle them.

Beware, Origin NBN means you will be stuck on cgnat with no way to disable it or get a static ip. For most people it's not a big deal, but it does mean you won't be able to forward ports or host on gaming consoles.

      • That's not true. When I signed up, I called them and they turned off cgnat.

        • They did that early on in the launch, but they stopped it pretty quick afterwards. I myself got denied when I was on origin 2 months free promo, and others have advised they have been denied too.

  • Leaptel is another good one. Run their own network now. Been solid for the couple of months I have been with them. Migrated from ABB.

I was also with Superloop earlier this year, but my POI was getting consistently congested during peak hours, so I wouldn't recommend them. It didn't clear even after it was reported on whirlpool (which the OP apparently raised a ticket with SL for congestion), so I left.

ps. Leaptel have a promo atm https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/711025.

Unbundle the two. You can always churn you NBN and electricity for the best deal. Bundling sounds good in theory.
