  • Anyone bought from these guys before?

Any advantages to get 2x16 rather than 4x8?

    • +4

Generally 2x16 is always preferred to 4x8. Depending what chip, series, design we are talking about, some systems are known to run slower when all 4 channels are taken up (not extremely noticeable), but that aside having 2 free will allow you to get 64 when it gets even cheaper.

      • +1

Its DIMM slots not channels. It's not some systems, its most (T-topology is rare). And by slower - its harder to run higher memory frequencies when all slots are populated.

    • the ryzen 5000 series actually does better on 4 sticks than 2 by around and 8% increase

      • +1

Not true, its not about the number of sticks but the number of ranks of memory you are using. 4x single rank sticks has the same benefit as 2x dual rank sticks.

        • Right. So its quad channel that's the fastest then for zen 3?

          • +3

@bubblelolz: Don't confuse channel with rank. Single sided ram is typically single rank (double for dual rank). You want 4 ranks of memory total for optimal memory bandwidth.

    • I've ordered from them before but I can't log in now or even change the password.

  • I wonder if Amazon will pricematch.

    • i hope they do
