  • Would this be capable of playing 4k HEVC content?

    • +3

Might be missing a joke here? Sorry if I am. But if there’s nothing too special about the content, quite easily. The CPU supports HEVC hardware decoding. Should be overkill for video playback if that’s your concern.

        Cheers

      The display is 1080p.

He probably has bluray remux files on his network storage/USB already and just wants this as an additional screen in another room?

        • Something along those lines.

            @DannyBoy: May be Porn…:)

              @AJAJAJ: *

Oh come on, not everything is porn realted. I bet it is something completely normal, like a marine biologist, who is looking to store his large collection of octopus photos, at least that was the case last time.

@RedditUser2: That's basically Porn to The Deep from The Boys show….

Picked one up for dad, let's see if it gets cancelled like the lenovo laptops from last year.

    • +2

Well that was quick, order ready for pickup.

  • FHD display with resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Pretty poorly reviewed online, I've come across a few reviews saying that it just dies after a while.

  • I'm guessing it's only 60Hz going by three price.

1080p display on 27” looks quite pixelated.

    • +1

I used a 32" 1080p Sony TV as a monitor for while :D not bad but not that good anyway if you are siting closer.

    • i use a 27 1080p curved screen every day for work and its no issue

  • Yeah but the target market is old people with bad eyesight haha

    • exactly… picked up one for my parents..

  • Be upgrading that misery 8gb in no time.

    • If you can at all

      • -1

Yes that's the question, is this upgradable? I wouldn't even turn this on with 8GB in it.

        • Bit dramatic but ok

          • @DannyBoy: My weakest system has 32GB, the other 2 have 64GB. 8GB feels like 2005 to me. Even my daughter's laptop who this would be for, has 16GB in it.

But I guess people who don't use Chrome/Brave browsers still use 8GB systems

        • +1

You’d turn it on to check if it boots.

  • That screen resolution though…

  • Will this run Windows 11?

  • Can you put GPUs into these AIOs?

    • +1

No, no pcie slots and no thunderbolt

  • i ordered one for pickup in 2 hours.

Its bang for buck considering how much a 27" monitor costs by itself.

HDMI out is a bonus as you can connect another monitor to it for dual monitor goodness.

Pretty much out of stock now…

Few things I need to check
    1) 2280 or 2230 SSD
    2) AC or AX wifi..
    3) Camera resolution

    • Specs difficult to find but it's Wifi 6 (AX).

    • +1

      Full specs are here

      1) 512GB SSD M.2 2242 PCIe NVMe
      2) 11ax, 2x2
      3) 5.0MP

These have their purpose but I think the general lack of flexibility and mediocre specs will let down users after a year or two.

    Pros:
    Clean look
One button to start/stop (simplest "grandparent/non-techie" use case out there)
    One wire (power)

    Cons:
RAM maximum is 16 GB (so one RAM slot available for upgrade)
Full HD instead of 4K (27" Dell monitors with speakers 4K go in the $300-350 range these days)
No user accessible slots other than RAM, so no GPU, Disk upgrade paths available
Only 4 USB (2 USB 2.0, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1) slots (which for aforementioned "grandparent" use case is enough).
If it breaks you'll probably have to chuck it or send it Lenovo for repair.

I'm putting forward this kind of alternate configuration which has more flexibility and modularity.

    Dell 27 inch 4K monitor ($350)
    Monitor arm ($50)
Laptop or Small Desktop ($400-$600 used, can go new but that price range is quite average on new devices, the used market at that range gives decent specs) - desktop if you want more expandability or laptop if you just want something that isn't going to be upgraded internally.
Wireless KB/Mouse ($30) - Bluetooth would be better so you don't have a dongle to lose.
Cables (i.e. HDMI) if not included with monitor ($20)

When things do inevitably slow down/break (usually the PC) you can just replace/fix that one bit and leave the rest.

  • $839 on TGG commercial

Bought one of these a few weeks ago for office reception area. Paid $997 at officeworks when it was supposedly already on special. Receptionist thinks it’s great, snappy, looks good and uncluttered, no issues with clarity on monitor. Receptionist bought one for her own home use today thanks to this post.

Harvey Norman have an up spec’d version of this with R7-5700U/16GB for $1,298, that’s supposedly $400 off

    • i wonder if this one can add second hard drive?

      • I don't know how accessible it is, but specs say it can take the following:

        Up to two drives, 1x 2.5" HDD + 1x M.2 SSD
        • 2.5" HDD up to 1TB
        • M.2 SSD up to 512GB
