Great offer, but I feel like just about everyone on Ozbargain is on here already!

    4814 referrers, wow!

    • 4814 wow

      • 4828 wow

    • These deals are as much about referring as remembering to check/update your own referral. I found out mine was outdated.

      • It looks like it changes every day. I’m not even sure if I’m receiving all the bonuses for the people I’ve referred.

        • @ATangk @del preston

Old referral codes never expire. They may change on a regular basis as it's a requirement from our provider (Talkable) for reasons I can't explain here, but your old codes are always fine - no need to update them :)

What stops someone from opening multiple accounts and making $40 each ($20 spent, $60 cashback). Rinse and repeat until you get enough cashback to buy a house

Is it just how many phone numbers and bank accounts you can get ahold of?

        • the signup ip has to be different swell

          • @Hvrd: What if it's a housemate or family member?

            • @Ziggy28: I got referral cashback denied from cashrewards and shopback even though the wife uses her accounts separately because we used same computer to sign up

            • @Ziggy28: they don't care in t&c referral has to be outside household

              • @Hvrd: Is it true that I can like get my dad to sign up using my referral code? Has anyone tried this and worked?

        • 1 new phone number every 2 years..
new bank account every year.. as per ozb CC churning policy

    • How many $2 sim cards would you need for this?
      How many VPNs?

  • Thanks. I got the email. I didn't check my referral at Oz bargain cuz I was sure I already provided it previously. Saw this post and decided to double check. Found out it's missing for some reason and had to input it again.

Last time I did this and after the 20$ purchase, it still did not track.

    • Yep did one last night and it hasn't tracked. Plenty of others. Don't even rely on the promises. They usually get broken.

  • There is similar one running in Shopback and doesnt have timeframe linked it like cashrewards.

  • what's a qualifying purchase, can we purchase a gift card?

    • A “Qualifying Purchase” means any purchase through the Cashrewards system in line with the prevailing terms and conditions which results in cashback to the member.

All subscription services, digital services and surveys including but not limited to iTunes, Woolworths Gift Cards and Audible are expressly excluded from this promotion.

It would seem fine. I do know though that shopback does not allow you to buy gift cards to get theirs.

e: nvm, I found this elsewhere:

A “qualifying purchase” refers to any purchase through the Cashrewards system, excluding Gift Cards, in line with the prevailing conditions which results in cashback to the member.

I would neg this (my first) simply because of the unreliability of Cash Rewards as a company. I've tried their 'refer' system at least 3 times, and each time they never apply for the credit, and when I question it, they give the same excuse 'sorry, it didn't track'.
Not to mention over half of my purchases using their system get the 'sorry, it didn't track' with no reason why.

I don't know how they can operate or promote their services when they simply don't do what they promise they will do, and when questioned, just shrug their shoulders like a 4-year-old.

    I gave up.

    • Wow, that's really bad. They shouldn't offer such a generous referral promotion if they don't intend to honour it.

  • Never verified my email or purchased anything the first time this came around so going to try close my account out and see if I can be referred again :)

  • How often does this refer a friend promotion happen?

  • I referred someone, they've registered but have not made a purchase yet. When looking under the Your Referrals section of my account, it's not showing that I have made any referral. Is this normal? Would it only show if the person I've referred made a purchase?

    • No. Referrals show at both ends as soon as the referred signs up. If you've not received any referrals, it possibly due to self-referral or something against the terms of service here. If none of these apply, please reach out to our support team. All the best :)

      • Thanks. Nope, not a self referral. I have lodged a support request so hopefully it's sorted out soon.

        • Or ping minita who can help as well :)

  • Does anyone know why the referral address changes all the time? And if you have an older address posted somewhere, say in the Ozbargain random referrals, whether the referral will be attributed to your account and you’ll still receive the bonus?
It seems I’ve referred more people than have tracked, but, unfortunately, there’s no way to prove it 😐

Responded here. If you've not received any referrals, it possibly due to self-referral or something against the terms of service here. If none of these apply, please reach out to our support team. All the best :)

      • Cheers! No self-referrals here.
Also are you able to let me know the reason for the referral link address changing, and if it affects receiving bonuses? So, the address has a different code at the end of it that was there yesterday, but is showing a different one today.

        • +1

Hi. There's lots of reasons that I can't go into here. Please just know they never expire, no matter which code you use. And no, it doesn't affect bonuses. You get whatever rate is advertised on the day your referred mate signed up using any of the codes :)
