  • Since Yoga Pro X 14 is available on Australian site now, is there any update if there would be a Carbon model for that ?

Don't forget to claim $40 jb hifi gift card by installing norton360.

    https://claim.norton.com/anz/jb-gift/terms-and-conditions.ht…

    • 1 Install Norton
      2 Claim gift card
3 Nuke the drive and reinstall windows
      4 Profit????

    • *Buyer beware:

I had someone come to me to set up their new laptop (transfer data, get things up & running, etc). They'd already purchased a Norton AV activation card from OW.

During installation, you MUST create a Norton account, you MUST give them your CC details, and you MUST agree to auto-renewal (which means you then have to go right in afterwards and disable), or it will not install. I asked them if they were told they'd have to share their CC account details when they purchased it, and they said absolutely not.

This constant, slippery-slope foisting/acceptance of this sort of thing is sh1tting me. They had already purchased the product and then are strong-armed to give info not necessary to the use of the product. I told them to return it and to let them know why. FYI

      • Not trying to defend this but it is a subscription based activation now. I did link my paypal account to my free to use norton 360 but once i recieved the jbhifi gift cards. I promptly cancelled my subscription.

  • I can't find anything wrong with this for the price. Damnation.

This one slightly cheaper and bigger screen:
    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/lenovo-15-…

    • The 5600h in that one would consume more battery so will the bigger screen. But if you are near a power outlet. Then it may not that big a deal.

      • That's not completely correct. The 5600H is a very powerful CPU, but it is efficient too. When on battery, the laptop will most likely throttle to save battery life, as it should.

I have a 4800H and still manage 10+ hours on battery. This specific laptop is supposed to get up to 16 hours, so you can expect ~10 hours as well here

The Officeworks version does not have a touch screen and it's very hard to find stock.

5600H has a TDP of 45W and is normally in gaming laptops.

The large battery, 70wH+, in the Officeworks 16" laptop helps the 5600H .

5600U has a TDP of 15W and is for thin and light laptops.

  • Just bought the Slim 7 Pro with the i7 11370h yesterday. I think it has the same screen, very similar laptop overall. Seems like a solid laptop

  • Is ideapad series superior to Thinkpad?

    • +2

      I think it's the opposite

    • +1

Thinkpad - business model, better quality and durability
      Ideapad - home/school model

    • The ideapad should be cromulent for your needs.

      • Perfectly cromulent

        FTFY

      • Selects "cromulent", right clicks on it, clicks Define :)

    • +1

The are various iterations of the IdeaPad, just like the ThinkPad.

The IdeaPad Pro series is a higher tier with better quality components, screen, and full metal chassis. The IdeaPad Pro series is a step above the ThinkPad E14 and E15 which has lower quality components and screen.

  • Decent laptop for the price. Thunderbolt would be nice.

I got this model last year

It’s not slim at all lolol
    It’s a thick boi

    • For reference. The dimensions are:
      312.2mm x 221mm x 15.99mm

    • I bought this in February, it's not thick but it's also not a piece of paper.

  • Don't forget to try and negotiate price. I got it for $1,165 back in February, and it wasn't even EOFY. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11747649/redir

Just had mine return from a trackpad repair, the first batch was dodgy, now it runs flawlessly and is an amazing laptop for the price.

    • Yes, batches manufactured before November 2021 have faulty trackpads.

      • Anywhere to find this info in writing? Called them twice regarding my trackpad and they are very hesitant to offer repair or replacement, also my fan is much louder than my friends identical laptop… Feeling able bit ehhh about the quality of my purchase.

        • I was told by a JB hi-fi rep, but I just sent it in and requested a replacement and got it back in a little under 3 weeks. Be firm and claim a warranty repair, it's worth it.

  • These seem to be much better than the TA's Lenovo 'deals'..

    • For the price point its better compared to, spec and chassis, the E14 and E15 which are entry level ThinkPads.

  • Can i get International warranty on this ??? been trying to ask JBHIFI chat.. but no response yet.. and lenovo website says mixed response.

    • Likely not. You're better off asking Lenovo instead of JB.

      • Larger retailers normally only want 12 month local warranty,so they can sell you a 3rd party extended one and profit from it.

  • When will this special end?

  • Where does it say on the jb hifi site that this is a touch screen?

    • Its touch screen. I have the one with r7 5800u cpu.

      Same everything as the 5600u.

      • Thanks. How stupid they don't mention that. Not an insignificant detail! Do they even know what they are selling?
