I'm planning an international flight with Singapore Airlines. Would appreciate advice to charge to AMEX Explorer or the Westpac Altitude Black to maximise points and other perks? Thanks

More specifically, the card that provides a higher limit of cover.
Both of those cards will give you insurance. Go with the Amex as you will get more points per dollar.
Personally I find the rewards program for Amex more confusing than what it needs to be (having to convert rewards points to airline points or other rewards) and keep in mind that you can not convert Amex rewards to Qantas points.
Both cards have travel insurance, and you don't have to make a purchase on the Amex to access the Amex international lounge, so I would go with the Westpac card given the simplicity of knowing the value of the points you will be earning. The Westpac Altitude Black offers 6x / $ . How do you calculate value of the points compared to Amex ? Ultimately, I am looking to accumulate SQ points for upgrades :) Thanks in advance.
Find out how many points your purchase will earn then check the rate of transfer each one offers to KrisFlyer. I believe Westpac is 3:1 and Amex is 2:1?
Personally I think the travel insurance is much more important - go with the one with a better policy.
Thanks mate. You've been most helpful.
Singapore Airlines have started charging credit card fees. You could link your credit card to PayPal & then you will avoid the fee but you will still receive points. Unfortunately you won't benefit from the travel insurance though.
Is this true?
I don't think the T&Cs say you need to charge the flight directly on the card and not through a 3rd party processor for the purpose of insurance?
The card that provides travel insurance.
