  • Does anyone know what the quality is like for these?

I’ve heard the GooLoo jump starters don’t last after two or three jumps.

You can get 3 or more jumps from a single charge depending on the model. I think the best is gp4000.

Quality seems great to me. But like any battery they do discharge over time so you want to recharge every 6 months.

The problems I’ve seen are those trying to jump a completely dead battery. in those situations you’re supposed to use the boost functionality which I those users didn’t realise.

I bought one of these in a previous sale used twice and charged probably 3 times . Went to use the other day was dead flat. Tried to charge but just keeps flashing and won't take charge . Tried a few different cords and chargers still no good. After googling them I found lots of people have same issue . Make sure you charge often otherwise you will have an expensive paperweight, first purchased Feb 2020. So after some investigation i have found these steps to fix it.

I fixed mine. I was really happy with this unit, but it is true; if the battery is depleted it will not recharge. You will know your battery is depleted when there is no battery percentage shown (i.e. 1%) on the display screen - not to mention the red charging light not illuminated.

Note: Charging lithium batteries are dangerous and can explode, shock ,etc… Therefore perform these steps at your own risk.

      TOOLS REQUIRED
      Small screw driver
      Volt Meter
Trickle Charger (Mine was a 12v/1.25amp)
      Electrical Tape
      Jumper cable attachment for unit
      Charger plug for unit

      1) Place unit face down. Remove the four screws on the back. Lift the back from the unit starting from the bottom and the back piece will pop out.

      2) Visually inspect the lithium battery to make sure there are NO weird looking buldges or black burn markings. If there are, DO NOT attempt further steps as injury could occur.

      3) Locate the red wire that leads from the lithium battery to the circuit board. You will connect the positive (red) clip from your trickle charger to this spot. You can use electrical tape to isolate this spot so the metal doesn't touch anything else because it could short the board and destroy the unit.

      4) Locate the Jumper Cable plug covered by the black rubber cover on the unit. Use the Jumper cable attachment that came with the unit and plug it in. Connect your the negative (black) clip from your trickle charger to the black jumper cable connector. Make sure to isolate the other red connecter so it doesn't short.

      5) Prior to plugging in your trickle charger, use your volt meter to measure the current lithium battery voltage. Turn your meter to 20VDC and place your red lead to the red connector of your trickle charger and your black lead to the black connector of your trickle charger. (Mine read around 5.8VDC).

      6) Turn on your trickle charger and monitor the voltage as trickle chargers are not meant for these types of batteries -so you can't set it and forget it. I left my meter attached and monitored the voltage as it started to increase. (This took about 5 minutes).

      7) Once you reach 11VDC, turn off your trickle charger. Remove all electrical tape and disconnect the trickle charger clips and removed the jumper cable attachment. Plug in the charging cable that came with the unit. Verify the charging light stays illuminated and your set.

  • I have a smaller model that is not as "rugged" and it already saved my ass like 4 times. On one charge I started 2 times a Hiace and 2 times vw Polo. It still had 3 leds of charge so technically I could jump start something one more time. Great device and very easy to use. Can't comment on this model but it's bigger so probably have even more charge.

You are not supposed to plug it into your ass. We already struggling with ambulance availability. Don't be so reckless next time.

I have one of these. Had it since October 2019 and I’d estimate that it’s been used 10-15 times since purchase.

Great device. Has worked flawlessly. I’ve even used it to jump start my car with only 1 LED on the battery indicator.

I will note that when I purchased it, the first one arrived DOA. But I got refund almost instantly (didn’t have to ship the item back) and the replacement has been great (was asked to reorder rather than them shipping a replacement).

  • Flat battery yesterday, so this has been a timely deal for me. Purchased based on other recommendations.

    • just keep it charged regularly otherwise you will have same issue as me above
