Can you give more details about how to get this for $1224.14? Showing $1499
Bought this today for $1252 from TGGC - it gives amazing sound

    • +1

$1274 is the price on EPP portal minus $50 first time samsung user email subscription - brings it down to $1224

      • +1

So wait… I have to be an employee of Westpac?

        • looking at the comments in this post… surprised so much of ozb is Westpac employees.

          • +1

@xrailgun: Some are even investment analyst graduates with a BMW.

      • +1

what's the EPP portal and how do I access it to get same price in OP?

  • +2

Purchased on TGGC. Very good sound and defs worth it at this price. Not the prettiest however.

  • +2

$1252 at TGG Commercial. No stock though. Mine is on backorder.

    • I picked mine up the next day with TGGC deal.
      Ripper unit

    • +8

Interesting view. What’s better for same/less money?

        • -1

I need sound bar size, due to the room… which ones would you get. The Sammy 950a sounds amazing?

    • +2

      Good for you.

    • -3

      neg for nothing!

      • +1

Would it have HDMI ARC? I have a kef and Yamaha stereo setup, it's fantastic for music. But for movies this would be great

      • +3

For a comment like the one you made, a negative vote is simply OzBargain shorthand for "Cool story bro" or "Sorry, I don't feed trolls".

      • +2

Non-constructive feedback is a good reason to neg.

Don't shit on a deal if you don't have something to compare it against or recommend

  • Can someone dm the receipt please TGG commercial or EPP. I will try TGG store to match the price.

    Thanks.

    • Don't have a receipt but I've shown the listing before. Here ya go

    • I haven’t seen TGG match TGGC before. Have tried but basically it’s a choice between TGGC or TGG with discounted gift cards. With some promotions TGG can be cheaper but TGGC usually works well for me on things not on sale.

  • Anyone with personal experience care to weigh in on something like this compared to a Sonos Arc?

    • +3

Not a great comparison since the Arc is without the sub and rears, while adding them puts Sonos total cost far beyond this price category.

    • +2

I preferred the q950a over the Sonos Arc, the Arc sounds better for music similar to the bose, but this had a better sound stage for streaming content, best to check it out yourself.
The bigger JB Hifi stores had the previous q950a, arc and bose sound bars to listen to in the audio section, also video's on youtube comparing the different available sound systems.

  • I'm super picky about audio and video sync. On soundbar setups like this, does having the wireless rears impact the latency? Is there a subtle lag introduced to make sure everything is synced?

    • +2

Didn't feel like there was any latency at all on the q950a. This should be similar if not better.

      • +1

same as above, no lag and would expect as its successor model this is the same.

  • Just one issue with Samsung is their smart things app is useless and getting no work done on it. Very hit and miss especially if you use the app for anything (usually my preference and sometimes only way to do some things)

  • Are these compatible with Bravia OLED? Will these operate with sony tv remote?

    • +1

Running it currently with a Sony X90J, pairs perfectly via eARC. Havent had any issues, had the same reservations too prior to buying it, cost to performance this is bang for buck at this price range, an equivalent sony system would cost 3k upwards, as this comes with soundbar, 2 rear speakers and sub.
Only things I've changed via the Smart things app is turning up the bass and dialogue enhancement.

      • This is what I was looking for… thanks mate. Clear !

    • they use the common ARC/E-ARC function to sync sound control between tv and soundbar.

  • On the Samsung website it confirms that speaker stands for the rear are not included and not available for purchase through Samsung.

    • +1

      Yep.

Most common recommendation is to pickup the mounting dream stands from amazon

      • Yes I have these stands and they are great.
Just waiting for longer L shaped power cables to arrive before i can make things tidy

        • Is it heavy enough or easily to fall? Have kids around, and so not sure how stable they are

          • @Mandalorians: Mine are in the corners of the room and seem fine.

Pretty heavy but if it's a decent push yeah they'll fall

      • Any recommendations for wall mounts for the rest speakers?

  • strange, says $1274 for me but when I go to checkout it changes the price to 1,349.10… anyone else having this issue?

  • Bought this on another Oz post by price matching (not possible in this case). I have to say, the sound bar is amazing. Esp. on small little things that nobody talks about such as if you have google mini paired with the soundbar as the sound output, it will auto switch to wifi when needed. Turn on the TV, it is on eARC. No faffing around switching inputs.

  • Anyone able to DM me a receipt so I can price match JB?

  • -1

May i have a receipt so i can price match at JB. Very thanks for your help.

  • Does the Q990B soundbar have built in Alexa functionality like the US model in Australia? On the Q950A last year it didn't.

    • +1

I have this soundbar and I believe it does. I don't use Alexa but on the smart things app there is an option "Sign in to use the soundbar as an Alexa speaker"

    • I got this on one of the previous deals, the built in Alexa worked when I first set it up, but hasn't worked since despite many factory resets and messing around with the SmartThings app. Good soundbar otherwise but a bit annoying

  • +1

I have the Q90R (2020 version) amazing soundbar however I have seen there is issues with this soundbar and pairing it with LG OLEDs where you get errors with Xbox consoles and ATMOS. Can anyone confirm?

  • Are the rear speaker position configurable? For e.g. Can they be placed either side of the entertainment unit and can be configured to that position, we dont have the space as well as power for rear placement

    • +1

Yes. You can define them as front or rear positioned in the smart things app

  • I am looking to buy a soundbar similar to this and have a genuine question - how do you "raise" a TV that's on a stand in order to place soundbar in front of the screen? My LG C8 TV screen comes down very low (5cm clearance) and most soundbars would obscure some of the display. For example, HW-990B has 6.95cm height. Any suggestions?

    • +1

I've seen people suggest putting the TV onto an IKEA Lack shelf or something like that.

Mine is currently sitting in front of my LG and, it only just covers a bit of the far away corner edge when I'm lounging on my sofa so it isn't actually terrible as is.

Does block the little IR sensor at the bottom though, so have to reach up to switch the TV on and off.

      • Thanks TheContact! I'll definitely check this out. Pity though that neither color matches the color of my entertainment center.

        • +1

Can vouch for the IKEA Lack - I've got a LG C1 and Q930B which is fairly similar.
I used a router to cut a channel in the bottom of the lack to hide the soundbar cables, looks very clean.
Alternatively you could raise the Lack with some rubber feet perhaps to have a gap for cables.

    • I ended up buying the Bose 900 soundbar for this reason. Couldn’t wall mount TV in rental and the Samsung TV had weird angled legs making it impossible for the larger soundbars like Samsung and LG to fit on our IKEA BESTA TV cabinet/stand.

    • Lol I have a C8 and the exact same problem 2 years ago. Used what I had lying around, which was 6 packs of office A4 paper. C8 standing on those papers, soundbar covers the ugliness of it from the front perfectly. Wish someone told me about the IKEA LACK earlier…

  • Can these be used without the rear speakers? I don’t have the room available to put them as my couch is against the wall

    • There's an option in the app to set the surround speakers as being placed in the front as well.

      • Are the subwoofers used in the front speaker setup?

        • There's nothing to suggest is isn't. The option just sets the position of the surround speakers to front or rear. Makes no mention of the subwoofer.

          • @TheContact: Thanks mate. But do you know if it's possible to use the unit without the rear speakers? I'm struggling for space even at the front

            • @drakdaystar: I believe you can turn off/not use the rears.
You will lose some surround-ness (is that the right term) as the rears have not just the normal rear channel but also up and sideways firing sound to fill the back of your room.

    • Just get Q800b instead. This does not come with rear speakers. I bought it a couple of days ago at TGG after price matching with Billy Guyatts

  • anyone recently signed up to the newsletter and actually received the promo code for $50 off? I did it a few days ago and nothing… emailed them as well and no response (I hear their service is rubbish so I'm not expecting to hear back from them).
Keen to get this (or similar) soundbar and the $50 makes a difference….

    • It is very hit and miss. I tried 2 personal email addresses and a work address and only the work one came through

  • Does this work well with sony x90h tv? Like eArc and stuff

    • Yep works well. Just be aware that none of the internal apps can passthrough all the codecs to the soundbar.

      • Thanks for replying @musclewarrior. I have ordered one through appliance central already

    • X90J, works flawless.

      • X90H also working fine. Awsome sound!

  • +2

This thing is amazing, 0% regret on purchase.

Have spent the last 3 days re-watching favourite movies/shows just to hear how much more awesome they sound now. Truly spectacular sound on every level, including some levels I did not realise I was missing out on…

    • Are you comparing your experience to tv speakers or to a home theater system (receiver + speakers)?

      • +1

I previously had a 5.1 (2x tower, 2x surround 1x centre speakers and 1x subwoofer) wired setup with a Yamaha amp. Have been using it and a 55inch Sammy TV since 2010 and it they have been great. I really am over wires though and after recently moving house, decided to treat myself and the fam by splurging big on a new TV and sound setup.

We got a Samsung 65inch QN800B TV and this soundbar. I am hoping it will last another 10 years if I'm lucky.

I especially notice how refined the surround sounds are now, because I will mistake a noise in the movie for something actually happening behind me. The bass from this is also much much better. I feel it move through the floor and walls now, it is very deep at the exact moments it needs to be deep. Never felt that before. The wireless surround speakers and sub are a god send and I love I easy it was to place around the lounge without having to deal with the stringy speaker wires. Still not sure wht to do with it as it is a bit of overkill to put on my oldest sons bedroom TV (he is 9 with a 32inch TV lol).

So I came from decent sound and still think this is amazing. Especially since my previous sound gear cost me about $150 more than this (~$1400) at the time.

Hope this helps your question below too.

          Hey Artic,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experiences in so much detail. I just bought the 65QN900B and I use a 5.1 system that's about 6 years old.

My favorite part of the set up is definitely my SVS PB-2000 sub and probably the only part of the set up the sounbar system won't match.

P.S. I laughed so hard at your idea for your son's bedroom

That said I'm very tempted by how clean the sounbar set up is without a massive receiver or the mess of wires for the rears.

I think I'll make a decision over the weekend :)

          • +1

            @safwanc: No problems bud,

I forgot to mention that the soundbar can also connect to your TV using your wireless network instead of a physical cable (HDMI etc.). As you have a recent TV (the model above mine in fact) it should pair up easily. Just worth considering if your TV is wall mounted. You won't have to figure out how to hide the cable.I had zero problems setting this up with the Smart things app.

I did however end up using the supplied HDMI cable as my setup has the soundbar on the same surface as the TV, so hiding the cable wasn't needed. I was also concerned that the soundbar would lose connection to the TV during internet outages. I have a heap of philips hue lights around the house and when internet goes down, I lose the ability to turn them off with voice command. I have two hue play light bars behind my TV that are hard to get to and they do not have an on/off switch. My internet went down for 3 hour maintenance recently and I had to leave them on all night because of this.

It looks like these have gone back up to around 2k again. I love mine, but would not have purchased at full price because of budget restrictions. So this may affect your decision now too.

Good luck what ever you decide.

I'm thinking of moving from a traditional home theater to this soundbar system but I'm unsure about what to expect.

Has anyone else gone through a similar experience?

  • I don't currently have a HDMI-ARC compatible TV at the moment, but should I still get this in hopes to upgrade to a newer TV next year? Or would I be better off waiting for the next gen hardware.

  • Looks like the deal has expired

    • +1

TGG Commercial (if you have access) has it cheaper right now… and you will probably get it faster…
I ordered via the Samsung EPP site per the OP, that was 4 weeks ago and still has not arrived (they said it was dispatched over a week ago but 3x calls to their support line and they still can't provide any tracking or updates on where it is….)

      • +1

Yes, I observed that and ordered from them ..

  • i found better price at https://www.powerland.com.au/samsung-11-1-4-channel-q-series… not only for westpac its for public
