Classic platformer, I remember playing this back in the day as a teen, was a tough but challenging game. I was so excited about it because it was made by the guys that made Another World which was an absolute classic. I finally bought the GOG version because I was feeling nostalgic during covid last year, and beat it with heavy use of a video walkthrough.

I had this game as a kid. I remember it took me about 2 years to get part just the start. Now days you just google when stuck and move on.
After reading post above I might be thinking of another world.. lol

another world was brutal, soon as the game starts if you don't push up you drown.

I should point out I was very young when playing this, but it was the running left from the monster at the start that took me ages to work out. By the time I was old enough to work that out I finished the game over a few weeks. I remember it clearly as one day I was right near the end and my brother was annoying me by tapping the window from outside. I stood up to punch him thinking the windows was open.. it wasn’t..

          Yes its another world

@justtoreply: As a kid I played it but could not get past the start, so rage quit and never went back to it. Great starting sequence though. I didn't pay any money for it, so I figured what evs - as usual.

Another world was brutal, I remember not getting far at all, maybe another 5-10 mins after freeing your alien buddy

        • +2

I got as far as the caves where the black things bit you.

  • I honestly gave up on this because of the controls, too many games to play than waste time on a poor experience with no nostalgia

    • +2

eh? the controls were more responsive compard to something like the DOS Prince of Persia 2

    • Are you thinking of this game or the sequel?
The sequel was a 3d polygon third person shooter that had excruciating controls. (Though once you eventually got used to them, the act of playing was like poetry).

This is the original side-on platformer and has a fairly limited set of controls.
Possibly referring to the fact that the animations often need time to complete before the character can transition to a new action/direction? If so, then that is just a style thing, and is probably just not for you.

      • An interesting thought, I thought I was catching on with that, but it’s possible

Delphine Software was one of the best publisher back in the day. Top games such as besides Flashback: Fade To Black, Future Wars and one of my all time fave, Cruise For A Corpse, etc are all now considered classics.

Flashback indeed, played this back in the day on the ole family Macintosh 5000

  • A classic. One of my favourite games of all time!

  • Thanks op got it.

Like other GOG freebies good luck finding how to redeem this (it's half way down the sale page, not on the Flashback product page).

same place as every other GOG freebie, everyone should be used to it now lol

    • When using my mobile for the GoG website, I wait for the page to load then I close and reopen the page. It's the only way can get page work.

  • Flashback… what a feeling
