Becoming a Mentor

I’ve been in IT industry for long enough, though I’m happy with what I do but I was keen to explore additional opportunities.

Given my experience, I was interested in becoming a mentor so I could help graduates and folks who are keen to move to IT field.

I searched online and couldn’t find any link or options to join a program.
I’m looking for a part time role and don’t expect to be paid.

Anyone able to advise on how I can start my mentor journey or any universities that have such mentor jobs?

Create an App to enable similar minded mentors to reach out to potential students. Then list yourself as the first opportunity. Im sure there are others in different fields like Engineering or Finance who are willing to share knowledge.

https://mentorloop.com is to go-to mentoring program nowadays. Used extensively in Engineering and very popular with grads.

Universities usually have programs for their alumni to participate in mentoring. For e.g., University of Melbourne, Monash Universitym Latrobe University.

The other natural mentoring opportuny is if your organisation takes in graduates and younger people. You don't have to call it that, but if you are a willing mentor, they naturally gravitate towards you for mentoring. This is broader than helping them move to IT, they may have already settled on it - but usually, they also welcome advice and 'mentoring' - without explicitly using this term.
