It's called the XXXL sale because that's the only size left.

      • +18

It's not ***L, it's XXXL. As in Extra Extra Extra Large.

        Yours,

        Captain Obvious.

        • +20

Lighten up mate, ever heard this one?

Q: Why is beer called XXXX in Queensland?
A: Because Queenslanders can't spell beer.

        • +38

          Stop pretending you're someone you're not :-p

        • most people use X when they can't recognise the letter
so XXXL could mean ANY 4 letter word ending in L

        • We sure can play footy though. :)

        • No you can play rugby. Rubgy is not footy :-p

        • +1

And rugby is not rugby league.

  • Dick smith batteries?

Are they just cheap junk batteries?

    • +2

      Sounds like it

    • +4

Ive been using their AA batteries for years. They come in packs of 40. I think they are great quality and they last a long time!

  • -1

DS batteries are crap. HDMI cables work but are average quality which can be bought even cheaper on Ebay. But ill give it a positive for the energizer discount. Still havent seen how much of a discount it would be cause i havent seen the current price.

  • +8

    Dick Smith TROLL Sale :P

  • Their FB page says its online too but no Click and Collect, also says the HDMI cable is an online exclusive

  • +22

    Dick Smith XXXL Sale.
Yes folks, we have (queue drum roll)……
    BATTERIES FOR SALE!!!!

FFS… DSE should be banned from OzB.

    • +3

      And a cable!

    • +2

Even if they provide shithouse sales, they provide great laughs!

  • +5

Give'm a break there have been good Eneloop and gaming accessory deals in the past.

What about the free BR discs?

    • +3

dont forget the $5 TDK headset!!

      • Which hurts my ears like hell.

        • they where $5 bucks what did u think that they were bose

    • +3

What about the free BR discs?

what about them? or do you mean cdr?

  • None of the participating WA store locations are very convenient for me and from I can tell shipping on the HDMI cables will be $10 :(

    • +3

You know the stores listed are the ones NOT participating, right? It's only the Hay Street and Claremont stores that aren't doing it.

      • Lol reading fail! Thank you that means my local is in thanks :)

  • give us another $5 ps3 games!

  • +18

Is this another "employees only" sale?

  • +1

wow! DSE seem to be having a fire sale on branded items, first Verbatim items, now Energizer, if this continues by this time next year(assuming they will still be around!) everything on the shelf will only be DSE branded! a habit no doubt inspired by the genuis who said "let's cut out the branded groceries items and replace them with our own brand" for Woolworths!

    • -1

Wow I just realised.. That probably is what's happening considering Dick's been publicly promoting the 'Australian made Dick Smith Foods' brand quite a lot lately.

      • +2

Why would the actions of Dick Smith (the person) have anything to do with DSE?

    • they want show move a lots of stock before they sell them off. that why it fire sale after fire sale. after fire sale.

  • -1

    1.5m HDMI Cables 2 for $10

    Not a deal…

    Just saying.

    • +3

How is it not a deal? It's normally $99.95 at DSE

      • I bought 2 for $3.90 from the shopping square sale the other week. Both do the same job :\

        • +2

          take a joke ;)

      • The normal price is crap.

  • -5

This is a deal, 5 samsung headphones @$2.25! 2 hdmi i can get on ebay for $3!
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5x-Genuine-Samsung-Headphones-But…

    • +11

Then you receive them and they are branded "Samfung"…

      • I bought 5 from this guy and they were Samsung, extras from mobile packs! still in packaging!

        • -2

There's a reason no one wants them.

    NT: Casuarina (Trower rd)

    • DS sales are not on at the closing stores, which are under the control of liquidators. I laughed at the $13.95 price for 50 packs of Verbatim DVR-Rs at the Logan mega centre DS, against $2 at DS stores the other day.

    • are yes these are the stores that are closing but havnt said so publicly (im saying this as i know corio hasnt started their closing down sales yet i hear they are)

    • +1

The above list of excluded stores has had some amends:

NSW: North Parramatta, Bankstown (Canterbury Rd), Baulkham Hills, Lidcombe and Sydney York & Barrack. ACT: Fyshwick. QLD: Brisbane Elizabeth Street. VIC: Chadstone (outside the shopping centre), Broadmeadows, Frankston Power Centre, Knox City and Geelong Market Sq & Melbourne Rd. SA: Elizabeth Philip Hwy and Hallett Cove.

      • So does this mean the original stores in the list (eg Townsville) have the sale on or not? The store exclusions have changed between Wednesday and Thursday.

        • +1

It would be in addition to the original list

        • They left some of the closing stores off the original list. Those are not part of DS - under liquidators, so not participating in any sales (catalogue or this type) or special deals (eg $2 DVD-R 50 packs, answering machines, hair cut sets etc).

  • +1

Other specials to be announced daily.
Talked to a few DS store managers today while continuing to scour the shelves for $2 deals. Was told they are not being told early what additional stock will be on special. They will be notified after 4pm Friday. They mumbled something about 'games sale fiasco'!!

  • +1

I think this is going to turn out as another Dicks myth deal

  • Give us $5 console games…

  • … and $20 g27s lolss

  • Whats being released on sale tomorrow??

    Here is the link! http://dicksmith.com.au/offer/XXXLSaleThurs

40% off mice, headsets, headfones, webcams.

    • lolwut? Today is Thursday, tomorrow is Friday.

      • my bad!

  • +2

Looks like they are just unloading all their shite. It should be called Dick's Garage Sale

  • +1

looking for logitech MK260. DSE normal price $50 . $30 with 40% off on xxxl sale. cheaper at logitechshop $29 delivered.

  • It says 40% off Headphones and Earphones does that mean headsets aren't included?

    • It says headsets on the left.

  • +1

Can't disclose much here…. But I can definitely say its better than the normal 4 day or weekend sales dse had before !!

  • +3

    'XXXL'? That's one MASSIVE Dick!!

    • That's what she said…

15-50% off a range of electronics (15% off Apple - not ipad, up to 30% off laptops, 30% off GPS, 40% off portable DVD players, MP3s, Networking, 50% off DS memory cards, TV antennas, cables, etc)
Who wants a SD STBox for $5?? LOL

  • +1

15% off Apple - not bad!

  • +2

Is it just me or did they just place exclusions on 'Headsets' between yesterday and today? Now it says 'excludes gaming headsets', but i swear that wasn't there yesterday.

  • 50% of dick smith AV senders.

    Current price
Dick Smith 2.4GHz Digital Wireless AV Sender $179.95
Dick Smith 5.8GHz AV Sender $99.98.

Are these any good? Looking to replace an old 2.4ghz AV sender I purchased from Aldi several years ago as it has very bad IR receiver that hardly ever works at all.

  • +1

Well im not going because they excluded "Gaming headsets" I wounder what they classify as gaming headsets because if it dosen't say its a "Gaming Headset" on the box I would argue with that.

    • It'll probably only be the generic VOIP and logitech headsets they have on sale.

    • you might be able to argue in store, because from the display stands i could not see anything about excluding gaming headsets.

  • +1

Anyone have any idea if the Phillips 5.1 Blu-ray Home Theatre is any good? From the looks of it it'll be this model http://dicksmith.com.au/product/AE3645/philips-bluray-home-t…

I have a ps3 also, would I be able to use that instead of the blu-ray player that it comes with?

    • i bought it a few months ago.
a bit on the quiet side, but it plays everything smooth as, and no problems at all.

  • +1

"Excludes already advertised lines" ….. all GPS are supposedly 30 per cent off, but the majority of them already have a discount of next to nothing applied, so are excluded. What a joke.

  • +1

    Has started online now!

    • I can't get to the check out page :(

  • +2

Featured $328 Sanyo 40" Full HD LCD TV was $30 cheaper before the sale!

  • Every list some good deals, can't really find any microsoft ones which break even

  • +1

Just got a Wireless desktop 2000 for ~30, $20.99 cash back brings it down to $9!

  • +5

Bought the MS LifeChat LX-3000 Headset for $5.98 ($20.97 Dick Smith price less $14.99 MS cashback) and MS Wireless Desktop 2000 for $8.98 ($29.97 Dick Smith price less $20.99 MS cashback).

Can't say I can personally vouch for either of the products but I reckon the end price is pretty good.

I think best buys would be (if you could find stock, none near me hence why I went with the above items):
    - Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 for $2.98 ($23.97 DS price less $20.99 MS cashback)
    - MS LifeCam HD-3000 for $2.98 ($17.97 DS price less $14.99 MS cashback)
    - Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 for $2.98 ($17.97 DS price less $14.99 MS cashback)
    - MS LifeCam VX-2000 Webcam with built in mic for $2.98 ($14.97 DS price less $11.99 MS cashback)

    Hope this helps someone.

    • How do I get this cash back?

      Only at Dicksmith?

      • Nope, can get it from most of the larger 'bricks-and-mortar' stores, but teaming it with the Dick Smith deal may help for a better final price.

        Details here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/70826.

  • If anyone is looking for a reasonably well performing 8 sheet cross cut shredder, you might wanna check out the XP0688 at $30. Good deal.

  • +2

I needed a new keyboard so I picked up the Logitech G110 for $53.96 - not exactly a super bargain but still $15 cheaper than MSY.

  • Thanks for the post, just price matched a Mac Book Pro at Myer for 15% off, paid using Myer gift cards that had the extra 10% bonus two weeks ago. Also get Myer One Bonus. Which in my case is about an extra $50 value.

  • +2

15% off because new iMacs and Macbooks are probably going to be announced in June during WWDC.

    • You are right, it looks like the new MacBook Pro is going to have a major overhaul and feature SSD drive, no Optical drive and be a thinner design with new intel processor, possibly having a lower price point also.

      • Can't you already get laptops like that?

  • +2

Went in to have a look at TV antennas but they don't have any prices on them, they could say whatever price they want and say it is 50% off.

can anyone tell me if the online prices are the same as the in store sale price?

  • Grabbed a MS lifecam HD-5000 at 40% off, combining with MS cashback 30% off RRP, it becomes a sweet 70% off RRP HD webcam. Paying 24 bucks in total, minus the 5% discount from wishgift card (off $48), it only costs me around $21.5.

  • +1

Lol grabbed 2 hdmi cables took them to the counter guy scanned them then stepped back scratched his head and waved 2 others over to check it "I said what's up " he said how much are they supposed to be I replied 2 for $10 he said cool that's what they've scanned at, he then told me during the staff sale earlier they were buying them at 1 for $10 he was not happy Karma baby karma :D

  • +1

They have 40% our keyboards, mice etc etc here are some of the better ones
    G510 Gaming Keyboard only $64.50 http://bit.ly/LogitechG510DickSmith
