40% to 78% off Selected Bryton, Cateye, BBB, Muc-off Cycling Computers, Speed & Cadence Sensors, Lube + Delivery @ Cycle Station

60

There are new regulations coming from 22rd June regarding items with button batteries included in them, including packaging changes and various other changes - this is to protect kids from choking when swallowing them (But apparently 10c pieces and $1 coins are still ok? 🤷‍♂)

So we've heavily reduced all our items that contain button batteries, most to well below cost, to clear them by 22nd June. So a great chance to get yourself a bargain.
Obviously, please consider if items with button batteries are right for you and safe for your life situation.
Some items have been further reduced since the deal was posted - the lubes in particular are a fantastic deal

Very imited stock of each item, when they are sold they are sold. No rainchecks, etc etc.
Please note that adding an item to your cart does not reserve it, first person to check out with each item will get the deal

Free shipping if you spend $99 or over. Flat rate $9.95 shipping if you spend less. Free C&C Albury NSW.

Strictly no change of mind returns on these items. If item is faulty or not as described then normal statutory protections apply. This is an exception to our normally generous return policies, for these items only

THE BELOW ARE JUST SOME EXAMPLES OF THE DEALS - There are a few more items on the sale page not listed here.
View all of these deals here: https://www.cyclestation.com.au/sale/button-battery-items/
OR - View other items on sale here https://www.cyclestation.com.au/sale/ (Lots more sale items to be added this week)

MUC-OFF LUBRICANTS & SEALANT
Why would lubes have a button battery you ask? Well these have a tiny little UV torch included so you can see where your lube went I guess? If you don't want the torch just discard it. Future stock will be sold without the torch.

BRYTON
(Speed and Cadence sensors have button batteries. Kits containing a computer and a speed and/or cadence sensor have also been reduced.)

CATEYE

JETBLACK TRAINER SENSORS

BBB

Happy shopping everyone.

But apparently 10c pieces and $1 coins are still ok?

The issue with button batteries is not their size - which as you mention can be comparable to coins - it is that when swallowed the lining of our oesophagus (and other parts of our digestive tract) can bridge the negative and positive terminal of the battery allowing current to flow. This current can cause devastating permanent injury, and in some cases death. When a child swallows a $2 coin we often just wait until they shit it out :), when they swallow a battery they often need an urgent procedure to remove it.

Edit: Qld Health video on button battery in chicken

    • Thanks for your information, I've learned something.

  • You won't be able to get replacement batteries, will you?

    • As per the ACCC:

Under the mandatory safety and information standards, products must have secure battery compartments to prevent children from gaining access to the batteries. Manufacturers must undertake compliance testing, supply batteries in child-resistant packaging, and place additional warnings and emergency advice on packaging and instructions.

So batteries will still be available, they just must be in hard-to-open packaging (as many already are).

Devices like the ones being discounted are presumably either:

      • too easy for kids to get into the battery compartment; or
      • include easy-to-open batteries inside the packaging; or
      • aren't worth the effort (ie cost) of being tested to prove that they are "compliant", ie hard enough to open.

Seems like a good opportunity to snap up a bargain, if you're in the market for any of those items (and you understand the risks, especially if you have children around - do take care!). Personally, I'm not, but seems legit to me

In most cases it's C) - Not worth the effort of testing and documentation of compliance.
We aren't the importer or manufactuer of any of these products, just a retailer, and in most cases our stock holdings were under 10 units, in a couple cases literally one on hand. So easier just to sell them and not restock rather than testing and documenting compliance etc.
Working out how to reconfigure packaging for an item we have two on hand of for example isn't effective use of time, better off giving me a few bargains while they can be sold, hopefully to people who understand and take precautions re any risks (that are not new).

another prime example of our current society where no-one takes any accountability for their own actions - not letting your kids swallow button batteries is called PARENTING!
