  • Again, cashback with variable price plans only. They seem really desperate to keep people off fixed price plans…

    • and once again i don’t see how clicking on “compare all our plans” then choosing a fixed rate one is not signing up to via Cashrewards by clicking the 'Shop Now' button from this page

I got last deal for $270 with No Frills plan. If you read the conditions it says ‘plans’ and doesn’t say Flexi plan only. Here is my response from CR yesterday-

      “ Hi Chris,

Thanks for contacting us in relation to your EnergyAustralia signup. I am more than happy to assist with your query.

To answer your question, yes both Flexi Plan and No Frills are eligible for cashback but only for new Energy Australia customer signups.

If you are a new customer and the transaction has not tracked into your Cashrewards account would you mind sending through the Energy Plan Confirmation that you would have received via email from EnergyAustralia? An example for your reference is attached to this message.”.

The example started with reference BB and some think it must be CR.

      • I noticed the URL no longer contains CR's tracking once we clicked "compare all our plan" button. Does it mean the tracking will be lost by default as we have to contact CR support afterwards?

        • That could be the case. I had too and despite the response above my cashbacks still not tracked but will be honoured it seems

  • How do these plans compare to others?

    • Depends where you are. Red Energy has a better fixed plan for my postcode near Newcastle NSW.

  • 180 days to confirm and pay? lol. they'll probably raise the price 5 times by then.

Go fixed. I have had these deals before and got paid sooner. You also get there bonus of $50 or $75 per energy type.

      • i dared not mention the bill credit in the post. last time i did that and the deal was changed to point straight to the ea website and all mentions of cashback was removed.

      • I think it's $50 for no frills or $75 for Flexi regardless whether only electricity or gas or both.
They say limit of one credit per new energy account, per customer address.

Also clicking compare all plans changes the url such that it no longer displays the cashrewards reward code in the url. So am very hesitant.

Any cashrewards affiliated user on OzB care to confirm?

        • See my comments including email from CR. Any plan is eligible. Conditions also refers to ‘plans’.

          • @chrisharry53: @chrisharry53 thanks for your reply. Your correspondence with CR seemed to be regarding the $270 combo which expired.
It increases the likelihood of this $250 combo also working the same way but not 100% confirmed.

I also see that you mentioned you will be getting total $370. Was EA giving $50 per utility back then instead of one credit per address?

          • @chrisharry53: Btw I heard back from a CR rep when I messaged seeking clarification for eligibility for this $250 CB offer and they said "You need to click Shop Now and buy via the page you land on. You can’t click away from the main page. The way you know it will track is if your confirmation invoice starts with CR. If it starts with BB, it won’t track. Hope this helps."
Based on other comments, invoice starts with CR only on the Flexi plans on the first landing page.
Soooo let's hope the $25 extra credit from the Flexi plans compared to the no frills plan doesn't get eaten up with new rates within 6months for very low usage customer

@snorkey: Yes, I signed up 6/6 when $270 and get $50 per utility. As for eligible plans, the qualifying example contract reference I was sent starts with BB. Conditions refers to EA plans and nothing about landing page only not to go through other websites. I think CR rep got it wrong.

              • +1

@chrisharry53: can confirm, i had to lodge a query but mine just tracked. reference started with BB. signed up for no frills plans.

  • Solar plan is eligible?

    • All plans. See my comment above.

As an ex-Energy Australia customer I feel compelled to advise that they're one of the worst in the marketplace for deliberately trying to bewilder customers by having multiple different rate tarrifs and then multiple different 'discounts' on these. e.g they'll offer you a huge sounding discount but it's off abnormally high rates and so equates to a very so-so end outcome..

Given the current uncertainty and huge price fluctuations (Reamped upped my previous total monthly pricing by near 250% - and thats not a typo!), I found the best fit to be a true fixed price plan - Red Energy's Living Saver plan being one of the few that had this. They've even got a referral code on top for extra savings for new users.

    • Red Energy plan is better in my area but with $370 in cashback 2 weeks ago to go EA fixed No Frills plan with better solar rate for me it was a no brainer.

Note that cashback is paid by CR. You also get the sign up bonus. My $50 for electricity is already in my account. Please also note ER took over my account 2 weeks retrospectively - I have a smart meter. I complained as I didn’t notice on sign up and was given $50 credit after telling them my old rate was better (I went for No Frills fixed price). My daughter’s was back dated to 5/5, her last meter read. She can’t be bothered complaining- not an OZBargainer 🤣🤣

  • Has anyone tried getting this in ACT? Recently received email from Origin that my prices are going up by about 20%. I am keen to change if available.

    • Put your postcode in eh

      • Sorry if i was unclear. Plan is available here. I meant whether ACT connection is eligible for cashback from cashreward as title doesn't include ACT.

        • yeah it’s eligible i just copied the title i’ll fix it for you :)

    • Am in the same boat - even with this cashback - Red Energy comes out cheaper for me in ACT given Energy Australia's rates.

      • @Ori0n yes, was same for me - let me know if you want a referral code to save a bit more upon signup.

Their online billing system isn't as 'fancy' as others but transition to them was reasonably quick and smooth. So all good so far.

  • Who is classified as a ‘new’ customer? I am not currently with Energy Australia, but have been in the past. Would I be eligible?

    • yes

    • Yes

  • Three days ago I received the new rates from SimplyEnergy. They will be 50% higher, both energy and gas :((( It's hard to believe. Now switching to EA No Frills to fix a very low rate for 12 months.

  • My electricity and gas cashback amounts finally tracked after sign up 6/6/22 to No Frills plan for $270 bonus, I clicked on compare plans from landing page. I did raise the matter with CR and so no idea if it would have just happened anyway.

    • mine tracked but then changed to declined

      • I went through the laborious process after not tracking and all good now

        • well yeah mine didn’t track, reported it and waited 2 weeks and it tracked.

but now its changed to declined so i’d keep an eye on it.

          i’ve reported it again…..

          • @[Deactivated]: Email I got yesterday-
