500w and 32km/h? so illegal for use anywhere in Australia except private property….

    • +2

What is actual reason for negging the deal? speed limit on roads are dictated by Aust law..

      • +1

and the 250w power limit is dictated by most, if not all, states… (when I checked in the past NT was the only one to not have a 250w limit, it appears they have that limit now also)

The neg is fair IMO, the OP should make it clear this can only be used on private property…

Edit: and statements like "or enjoy the city" are deceitful considering I dont think this bike is legal for use in any city in Australia…

      • Speed limit and power. Can't be used as recommended. I don't deserve the negative votes. I'm not the one trying to sell something that can't be used in Australia

        • +1

I dont know what's going on with the negs you're getting, I assume it's either sheep or people that dont agree with the laws and they're taking it out on you…

        • +1

There’s a lot of private property in Australia mate…and it needs to have grunt, suspension and fat mud tyres. I want one.

          • @Everybodybecool: That's all good but the seller is claiming these can be used in the city, that's deceitful… An honest seller would make it clear these cant legally be used in public…

Edit: and if you want to go offroad you really need to get a mid-drive bike, hub-drives are crap offroad and on hills (unless you have kilowatts of power)…

Some people has dyslexia, can not read
"Max. Speed Up to 25 Km/h (Australia Legal Speed); Can unlock speed limit to 32Km/ h, for OFF-ROAD use only"

The bike is a legal bike.
My mate has a property in central Queensland and he loves it. The only downside bike comes with inner tube and easy to get flat unless upgrade type of the tyre.
I am not sure anyone needs for unlock speed but it is buyers responsibility (it is same with many e scooters).
Most of the cars able to speed more than 120km/hour. It is up to driver how to use the car and follow the rules. It is not car manufacturer's responsibility.

You're missing the fact that pedal-assist e-bikes are limited to 250watts in all states, this bike is 500watts… Since this bike has a throttle it would have to be below 200w to be legal in public areas…

It's a legal requirement that the pedal-assist cuts out at 25kmh, you can go faster than that by man-power if you like though, up to the speed limit… I think most states have a 6 or 10kmh speed limit for bikes with a throttle…

This bike can only be used legally on private-property, the seller is dodgy to imply these can be used on the streets…

    • Did you read the description ?

    • +1

It's good to point out, but I see tonnes of bikes that are definitely not street legal being ridden around, it seems to be a law that exists mostly so they can apply it to people that do stupid shit…which is bad, because laws shouldn't allow cops to (profanity) with people they don't like and let people they do like go about their business.

  • Motor: High torque 500w Brushless Rear Drive Motor

FYI: By the letter of the law I don't believe this is legal for use in public places in most states…

(The odds of getting in trouble if you're doing the right thing are slim, but if you are busted it's no different to being caught on an unregistered and unroadworthy motorbike… IMO, The main issue is if you bowl someone over you'll be castrated)

    • Probably more like 800W with a fresh battery.

I like how they specify "* Cotterless Cranks" as a feature :-) When was the last time you saw a cotter pin?

I guess it is a sensitive topic because of all the morons riding illegal bikes way too fast on footpaths.
Though if this one is only 32km/hr, it's not so terrible.

One thought: if anyone really does want an off-road bike with big soft tyres like this, you really want more torque than you can get from a 500W hub.
A real off-roader needs a mid-drive, so you get gears. This bike would struggle on any ground soft enough to want those tyres. ie. it is a fake, for wannabes.

      • I agree 100%, I have no issue with people using their own judgement and breaking the law knowingly, my only issue is that the seller is pushing these as a legal bike when they're not.. IMO the laws need updating but our Gov has just decided to play it safe and just follow the EU laws…

I have a 750w mid-drive which I mainly use in the bush, by the letter of the law that's illegal, but it's a calculated risk I'm happy to take… (I have stuck with a 25kmh speed limit though, that's adaquate)

The motor needs to be under 250W

    • +1

Considering it has a throttle it has to be under 200w in most states I believe… The 250w limit only applies to pedal-assist bikes with no throttle..

  • +5

pretty sure this is faster than my corolla

    • +3

The tyres are wider also !

  • 120kg limit is a dealbreaker

  • What? Mate that's nearly 19 Stone in the old measurement. You need one with pedal power only.
    * Handler Bar: 71 cm Aluminium-Alloy Bar
P.S pay attention to the Handler Bar……baaaaaaaaaah

  • Looks pretty solid. Unfortunately, specs don't show the bike's weight.

    • +2

24 Kg (Without Battery) / 28 Kg (Battery Installed)

Why is this deal back? Wasn't it downvoted to oblivion yesterday?
