I bought one of these, but yet to open the box as I think a desktop would suit me more. So, before I build my own, anyone able to point me at a desktop with similar specs at a similar price?

Buy first, research later
yeah, I reckon someone out there would take it off my hands for what I paid
Yeah… nah.
You don't reckon it's worth $999?
I very much doubt you will be able to build a pc with similar specs for a similar price, a 3060 alone is $550-650 atm.
You can sort of, but you're skipping out on the CPU by a bit:
Laptop GPUs do not equal Desktop graphics cards, so you can't really compare them. However, the 6600xt is somewhat on par with the desktop version of the 3060 according to Hardware Unboxed. BPC's prebuilt, is more of an all-rounder, as it has a better CPU and an extra 2tb hard drive. Opting for a 6600xt will lose nvidia features like CUDA, DLSS and NVENC. Both lists don't include wifi/bluetooth as standard if that concerns you.Found something interesting also: https://www.bpctech.com.au/product/sv-eofy3060-siren-vortex-…
Could be fine for you
You forgot to specify what it was you bought but you can price desktop build yourself here: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/
