    Dress shoes?

Are these suitable for job interviews and other suit uses? Excuse my ignorance.

    • +4

Exactly right, you can wear them with a suit, jeans etc. No such thing as a silly question.

    • +20

But they look best when you wear a dress.

      • +2

        and red lipstick :)

    • +1

I got hired by a big 4 firm wearing Julius Marlow shoes all those years ago.

      It works heheh.

      • If I go in beach shorts and a bikini bra, the JW shoes will get me through the door right?

        • +1

Sure, go for it, I'm sure they'll be more than happy to 'show you the door'.

        • +1

If you were hot, I'd have said yes but the answer to your question is unfortunately no!

      • +4

Didn't think Big4 Holiday Parks would be that concerned with shoewear.

        • Didn't think Big4 Holiday Parks would be that concerned with shoewear.

          except in the shower block.

  • boooooooo no size 9.5 or 10 :(

    • yeah, i wanted a 8.5 in the atomic style.

  • +1

    Any white ones?
I already have a JM Rattle, possible to get any No Lace White Shoes?

    • +1

We can get these in white: http://i.imgur.com/bIVcx.jpg would you want them?

      • Yes please!

      • Count me in for a pair as well.

  • +5

Although mine aren't lace ups, I have a pair of JM shoes and they are great to wear. They are very comfortable.

    • Might be the same as mine I love my slip-on marlows.

      • I just checked, mine are Majestic. Great to wear though!

    • +2

Slip ons are for used car salesmen!

  • Thanks, just got the last 8.5. Great comfy work shoes.

  • Does this have any good cushioning inside it?

I bought my pair of John Lobbs six months ago, but it feels like I'm walking without shoes on the footpath now.

    • The cushions suck, but what's stopping you from buying a $2 sole.

    • +2

You're going from John Lobb to Julius Marlow? That's classic.

I'll give you 50 bucks for your Lobbs if you don't like them :)

  • Hi rep,

What is the refund policy on these? Return within 14 days for a refund?

  • No Hush Puppies?

    • Not currently sorry.

  • Just bought a pair, Thanks

  • Just purchased as my JM's are really getting worn out now. Thanks for the cheap shoes!

  • -1

Be careful - read the reviews - they are possibly fake..

    • +3

Reviews read and no mention of fakes, unless you go back 6 months, one guy out of thousands thought they might be because he had a problem. 99.6% of 16183 feedback is as good as it gets. Purchased.

  • i would try these on 1st in store. I personally dont like the comfort of these at all. Hush Puppies are far more comfortable.( twice the price or more) That being said, this is a great price !!! very good find. JUST, try them on because they might not be right for you.

  • ran out of size 8s and 8.5s boo hoo, too late for me

  • -7

    Ugly as Sin. why bother

    • thats your preference.. hide the listing if you don't like..

i think this is a great deal compared to myer who sell the same thing for $100.

The quality of Julius Marlow shoes has gone out the window in the past few years. I've had 3 pairs fall apart on me in the past year alone and 1 Verde(sister brand) in the year prior. No exaggeration. Bits fall off, stitching coming apart, soles wearing out very early, leather cracking(yes I do maintain them). Whereas my JM shoes from 2006 when they used to be quality shoes(faux wood sole) - I just threw them out a few months ago. Now it's just the usual Chinese crap. It's a pity they've flooded the usual retail stores with their brands and unfortunately I haven't found an alternative at this price point. Buyer beware.

    • Bad quality AND super ugly. Whats the point of wasting money on them?

    • +2

Agreed - I'm never buying Julius Marlow again. I've owned mine less than 12 months and the leather is coming apart of the left shoe. I'm undecided on whether to try for a repair or just bin them and get something else.

I'm in some other shoes today that I wouldn't usually pair with a suit!

    • +2

I used to like JM as a reasonably priced business shoe - years since I've had them though, sad to hear they are going the way of some other brands.
I've owned various italian business shoes - some last, some don't price is no great indicator (all of them $200+).

The best quality/lasting shoes I've had were lloyds (http://www.lloyd-shoes.com/) - they're made in germany. Whilst they'll cost you a bit, if you aren't rough on them they'll last for a decade, and then you can re-sole them and keep going. BTW show repair/cobblers are a great source - for which shoes last/don't and how well they are made.

I'm not easy on my shoes and prefer lighter ones these days. Hush puppies have been working out well lately, an they are mid priced.

If you dont like the product why did you neg the deal?

edit: Opps that was supposed to be at Skizo

        • -1

For the same as why you would neg my opinion. Our prerogative?

      • Nice shoes, thanks for the tip.

      • Huh they have a store in Melbourne too

        Lloyds

      • Where does one acquire Lloyd shoes from? There are hardly any available on Ebay Uk or US. They have some nice designs in their PDF catalogue. A link to a discount online store would be good. I want to support the German econonomy - they need help propping up Greece. German products are almost always quality.

        • +1

David Jones often have Lloyds for 30-50% off. I stock up. Absolutely love them. Maybe it's just me, but I've commented on them on other people, and they've felt special to be wearing a notable shoe :p

    • Pathetic quality. I recently went to buy 2 pairs from Harris Scrafes when they had them last on specially. Thankfully I only purchased 1 pair. Within 2 weeks the glue that holds the sole on has given way. My other dress shoes lasted 3 years. They were worn everyday. They were Zu shoes and if anyone has seen what there soles look like its ridiculously that they destroyed JM's offerings.

I didn't expect years worth but 2 weeks is pathetic for someone that's only used it in an office.

  • you can't go wrong at 50 bucks a piece bro !

I have had $100 shoes fall apart in 3-6 months too.

  • 7.5, 10.5. Where are the 8s and 9s?

  • bah I'm size 11 Aus, spewing I need a good pair of interview/suit shoes

    • you should be happy that you won't end up wasting money on these monstrosities.

  • I totally agree that in the last 24 months the quality of mens leather shoes has dropped significantly. They simply don't last more than 6 months. I'm pretty sure it's a plot by shoe makers to make us buy more shoes :)

I guess they are having to sell them at around $100 so they need to make more money. In the past you had to pay a little more but they would last longer. So maybe we're kinda to blame for not wanting to pay :)

I might try a Lloyds paid next to see how they go. I did buy ones from Batsanis which have rubber roles, they were ok but the sole is starting to wear and getting them resoled seems to cost 50% the price of the shoes! Vicious cycle. Finding a cheap reliable shoe repairs place is the next thing I have to do :) $40 for a resole is a rip off.

    cheers

  • I hope I will get a job with this like others had experienced. *fingers crossed

  • At hb40
Well you do walk on the sole of a shoe so i guess it will eventually wear down.
Have owned Batsanis shoes and found them to be great shoes.

I think the key is to buy a couple of pairs of shoes and rotate wearing them so that they last. Typically a leather shoe will last 6-12months if worn everyday. If it has a leather sole you will get greater wear out of it once you put a rubber topping on.

  • square-toed shoes are not fashionable.

  • can you do some good deals on julius marlow boots

    • +1

Keep posted.. we will be releasing some great deals on boots very soon :)

  • can you do the Massives in Black?

    • Sorry only brown are on special currently.

  • They are so ugly, and look like Kmart shoes. It would be cool if more fashionable styles were offered at that price.

  • I received mine yesterday, box was a bit damaged, but hey, I'm not wearing the box! Thanks for the great deal :)

  • got mine. liked them.
