There are several things about this promotion you should know about, though. First of all, you can only participate if you’re in the U.S., or if you have a billing address in the U.S. You must have an Amazon account and a Facebook account, and you must grant permission for the Amazon Facebook app to access your Facebook account. Also, you must redeem your credit by May 24, 11:59pm PST (6:59pm UTC).

  • Last post like this got pulled re "have to live in the USA" or something, but having met most of the requirements and not living in the USA it was a handy $2.00 at the time.
This goes the extra step of requiring FB and I just cbf.
    Thx anyway.

Amazon's music is harder to access than their game downloads.

With games you have to have a delivery address in the US - no problem, since nothing is going to be physically delivered.

When it comes to music, and presumably at the demand of the record companies, you must have a US billing address. That is, just saying you live at the White House (1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20500) isn't enough. You also need to use a US credit card or other US-based payment method.

So unless you have a genuine method of payment that's based in the US (locally issued credit cards won't work), or sign up with a company that will act as an agent for you, you are unable to purchase music.

    And no, proxies don't help.

It's disappointing, as they have some good music at good prices. If anyone has a user-friendly and cost-efficient way of getting around this I'd be keen. Otherwise I'm stuck with collecting Coke labels and using Bandit.fm (Sony - a company I loathe with a deep and abiding loathingness).

When I was visiting England last September, I had no difficulties purchasing MP3s from the English Amazon site, with my (Australian issued) 28 Degrees credit card.

While not useful for the deal above, perhaps a UK proxy will enable people to purchase Amazon MP3s?

I also recall a post here on OzBargain, about a month ago, recommending a US company that sells US gift cards - over the internet, at a slight premium to the face value of the cards. If they have Amazon gift cards or Visa pre-loaded cards, that's another way to access Amazon MP3s, with a US proxy. Apparently they send you the card number and the CVV or scratch-off number, which is all you need for an internet purchase.

    • Things had fallen into place for me in regards to Amazon US. I originally used Amazon to send something to my cousins in US as I was given $10 USD credit from some survey years ago.
I was lucky to see the MP3 posting last time. It was blocked by the moderator but a search found the code and it worked. Music mp3 downloads from my workplace must be in the US address space (due to US parent company). I can listen via the cloud player any time I have Internet access or just download from their cloud anytime. Its a PLUS from me!
