Great game. No stock for pick up. Gary gets the delivery charges again.

Waiting for Amazon. Not touching Harvey's D***

Same, upvoted OP post, but not buying from HN as last purchase was disaster.
      Edit: PMed JB!

Fair call. I don't blame you. I felt a little dirty posting it but I'll let the buyers choose.

        I'll watching Amazon!!

        • Thanks for posting! Been eyeing that for a while and glad that JB have stock!

        • It's good that you posted it. Thanks to your post , now we can keep an eye on Amazon

It's funny that you think Amazon are more ethical…

      • +2

        Just the lesser of 2 evils…..just ;-)

        • Gary vs Bezos… Too hard to find the lesser.

      • +5

Honestly I don't care who is more ethical.

I just want cheap Switch games.

  • Wait, it's only been a year. That was fast.

Got $2 left on my HN GC after purchasing if anyone wants to use it and reach out
    Thanks!

I recently jumped on the Harvey Switch bandwagon, and I'd like to provide a word of caution.

A lot of the games I received were not in new condition. Like, they felt like rough second games. I'm 99% sure they weren't new. Furthermore, one of the games I received had a huge security sticker on the back that couldn't be removed without damaging the case.

So I went into a Harvey Norman to get it refunded, and my gosh. It was a nightmare. First the manager gives me this look of like "are you serious?" and I tell him that it can't be removed without completely tearing the case. So he attempts to remove it, unsuccessfully, further warping the case. Eventually he gives in and decides to give me the refund.

Then I spent around 20 minutes standing around as they tried to figure out how to refund the damn thing.

Up until now, I had no idea why people hated Harvey Norman. Now I know why.

I guess sometimes you have to see it for yourself to believe it. If you sit on top of Harvey's bandwagon he will ride you hard , rough and dry

    • +3

I had the exact same experience when I bought Triangle Strategy from them online — massive bloody sticky and there's no way to remove it without destroying it. I didn't care enough to return the game but it's still annoying.

    • I bought ps5 from them, supposedly preorder for April. No news for over a month, contacted them they said delayed until May. No news again.

I saw someone here just went in store and picked up one so sent email complained and miraculously they found a copy that I had to pick up on that day, can't be a day later!

I preorder a Rx 6800 xt when it came out they took the full price amount upfront $$ Called after 2 months Harvey " it's coming just wait" called 3 months later "it's coming", 5 months later "it's coming" 7 months later unexpectedly got a refund.and a generic email saying too bad no stock for you.

        • +1

Yep had the same poor experience with a pair of headphones. Waited 2 months of them ghosting me to simply cancel my order after waiting to pick them up..

    • The games I received from HN had some shelfwear and sticker residue for sure but that was the worst of it. They still had unclaimed gold points on them so they were as 'new' as new can be for a brick and mortar store. As much as I want to support local stores (JB not HN), buying from Amazon gives the highest probability of receiving an actually new game rather than a gutted or returned one.

Gold points aren't actually tied to individual carts.
you can get gold points off any cart as long as it's within 1 year of release date and then hand it to your friend and they can too.
Theres no individual id tied to each cart as far as I'm aware.

        • Wait, really? It wouldn't make sense for Nintendo to continually give points away for a year when they only profit from the sale of the cart once though.

          • -1

@Ashurei: I agree, it would make sense but then they'd have to write software to the chip that has a different single use code on each game and make sure they never repeat it.

The effect is the same basically, 1 year time limit so people who buy early get a reward (if they remember to redeem). The amount of hands most carts will go through in the first year is likely to be no more than 2 if ever leaving the first purchaser.
You could make lots of gold points if you worked eb and tried all the new release trade ins. But at the same time you make what like 60-80c when you put a cart and get the points anyway so is it really worth that much effort?

Yep, they are awful, after my latest supposedly "brand new" switch games arrived unsealed, with the cases covered in scratches, no less than 4 separate large stickers directly on the cases (that had been lazily half torn off) including that massive plastic barcode one you are talking about, i damaged the first case trying to remove that sucker and ended up using eucalyptus oil to help remove the other ones… these are shop soiled, shelf worn, unsealed games, and if you dare to question harvey norman staff, they just dont want to hear about it, they are a bloody disgrace.

  • +3

Never buying from Harvey Norman ever again, so sick of receiving unsealed games, covered in scratches/scuff marks with stickers and large plastic barcodes stuck directly to the case.
Come on Amazon, price match please!

    • so sick of receiving unsealed games, Come on Amazon, price match please!

I hear you on this, but every Switch game I've received from Amazon have always been unsealed. No scratches or scuffs though.

The only unsealed games I've gotten were from JB and EB.

      Harvey Norman

they don't gut games like most other retailers, if it's unsealed then originally there's no plastic shrink-wrap.

  • Shin megami doesnt seem to be in stock in any VIC stores…booo

  • Top 2 now OOS.

  • Great game.
SMT games typically get pretty expensive as time goes on so this might be the lowest it ever gets.

    • +1

the 3ds releases are crazy in price now.

      • You can get the Europe version for ok prices

        On Amazon and ozgameshop

        • soul hackers and Overclocked were really hard to find during the 3ds life cycle and went OOP. O

          • @godofpizza: The one I've been trying to find for a while is Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux.

it's not a game for everyone as its a dungeon crawler style.

            • @SpeedRunnerLink: i am glad i got that when it was on sale at eb games. ican't believe people are asking $500 for a sealed copy…

              • @godofpizza: Atlus games usually release in very small quantities

And with that type of game I dont think they even release as much either.

    • Had to settle for $70+ preowned early this year as nobody had stocks, they seem to have printed more copies recently.

      • There's rumours of it coming to PS4/Steam due to internal coding suggesting both button prompts/graphics modes so it wouldn't shock me

  • Anyone get JB to price match?

    • +1

I did just before it went OOS. Im so happy.
