  • The bags are too expensive

I buy rolls off ebay or amazon.

The device is too expensive, easy to get much cheaper but still decent ones off eBay.

  • Anyone knows how different will it be from the Aldi ones in terms of quality and features ?

Hanging for the vacuum seal chamber on a good deal!

    • FYI, the code is storewide for 20% off bringing the chamber sealer down to ~$440.
Not sure if that's a good enough deal.

      • Hmm I had just noticed that and doing a little research really seems ok albeit smaller than the comercial ones its a fraction of the cost

        • Saw this comment and nearly pulled the trigger on the chamber sealer…until I saw the chamber is only 75mm high

          • @OzBragain: I just grabbed one, hard to find anything comparable for even close to the cost. Looks to be almost identical to the this https://www.prolineaustralia.com.au/VS-D4-Food-Chamber-Vacuu…

Specs are identical, but the anova is substantially cheaper and comes with a 2 year warranty

            • @Pulse123: Good price and reputable brand. 75mm just isn't high enough for me.

              • @OzBragain: Shame the step up to something larger is substantial. I will admit it would be nice to have some more space. But I think the cost to benefit ratio for me makes it unreasonable.

  • I've got a cheap one from amazon that works brilliantly with dry seasoning but doesn't deal well when the marinade is even a bit wet… anyone here got experience? is there a vacuum sealer that'll be able to deal with a bit more moisture better?

    • Keen to know as well for similar recommendations

You really need a chamber vac to do that really well.

The Aldi one I bought last year has two low settings, including a “moist” so that it only does a low vacuum and starts sealing much earlier.

Even then, I found I had to make a larger bag from the roll to stop marinade being sucked out. I also squeezed out as much air as possible out of the bag before starting the machine. That made a difference.

  • Yeah, where's the deal here? My Aldi one has been going strong for many years and significantly cheaper, what does this offer over the cheaper ones, a roll holder, is that it?

    • This one has roll holder

    • My mate has an Aldi one that I've used, does the job. Been looking to buy that vacuum sealer for ages now and never seen it again. I think this is a good deal given its available, unless you have a link to the Aldi one

      • Hi was just doing some research I believe this is at aldi in the coming week ( check their new catalogue)

    • Brand name mainly but this claims it can hold over 100 continuous seals in one go and 2 years limited warranty. Not that I need to seal more than a couple at a time but I think from a manufacturer point ANOVA has confidence in the quality of the product if one intends to prep so much food for whatever reason.

I'm sure the Aldi one may give the same performance if tested.

That roll holder and cutter is tempting… i'm so lazy

  • Shipping kills this for me…
