Xiaomi Mijia Bluetooth Temperature Humidity Sensor 3-Pack US$14 (~A$19.57) Delivered @ Hekka

510
Thermomeclear

After some requests I've been able to get a deal on these previously popular Xiaomi Bluetooth temperature humidity sensors in a pack of 3.

These monitors will display the current temperature/humidity and can be linked with other Xiaomi smart home products via the Mi Home app. It also has a "baby monitor" mode where it will send you an alert through the Mi Home app when the temperature and humidity go too high or too low.

For those who are into tinkering there is a custom firmware project for this too.

  • Under "Ship From, Version, Memory, Color" select "3PCS"
  • Apply the coupon Thermomeclear at checkout

Free shipping included, AU only and limited to 500pcs.

    I read that as thermonuclear

    • Yeah they had typo'd the coupon lol

If you're into home automation, it's a piece of cake to flash these with new firmware, and get these talking to Home Assistant via a $10 ESP32 board running ESPHome, and you can have multiple thermometers talking to one ESP32 board (which you could add a temperature/humidity probe to).

Bear in mind one of the three I've flashed seems to stop sending Bluetooth messages after a bit (although the temperature display still works), so maybe buy a spare.

    • +3

If you run HA on a NUC or similar you can use the built in BT without using the ESP32.

I flashed a few but like yours quite a few have dropped off the network. I'm not sure if I can be bothered to re-add them.

    • What was the range when they worked?

      • +1

Comes down to your Bluetooth dongle. I get a good 30+m. Have them inside and outside of square house without any issues. Even the ones in the Fridge and Freeze get decent signal.

        • Yes I agree. They surprisingly have good signal.

I would guess because the way it works is your home automation hub only needs to read a very small string of data from a ping which happens every 10-60 seconds. It doesn’t actually pair with your smart hub. So it might be able to travel further than a device that needs to maintain a constant Bluetooth paired connection.

Also you probably just don’t notice when it loses signal because it just won’t change the temperature reading and will wait until it reads the next signal.

I could be wrong but that’s my guess.

          • @username1: Good point. I have mine refresh every 1min. Can't say I track every potential drop out however seems constant i.e. when I click on any, the last refresh always seems to be within the last 60secs. No doubt it misses a few here and there.

        • Hey Borg - which dongle do you have for the freezer ? It seems those one are only for temperature > 0°C

          • +1

@gautzka: Not sure what you are asking i.e. what dongle?

I have one of these in the freezer which like all the others connects via Bluetooth to a USB dongle attached to my PC which has HomeAssistant running (as a Virtual Machine).
Current Temp shows as -18.5c so no issues showing below 0c.

    • +2

I would clarify that to say it’s a piece of cake if you know what you’re doing.

I was messing around trying to connect to these, adjusting settings and running terminal commands on the raspberry pi thinking my Bluetooth wasn’t working, playing with firmware settings, trying to obtain the key vs no key, etc.

Turns out all I had to do was select a different broadcast format in the new firmware to match the software reading the signal on the raspberry pi.

Now that I know the exact procedure, I could set up 10 of these in 5 minutes, but it’s not quite beginner friendly for any sort of troubleshooting or help documentation.

I have these and they work flawlessly.
    Battery also lasts very long.

    • mine lose time badly, ive tried adjusting the offset but havent found the sweetspot yet..

Not a problem if you continually connect to it though with BT.

      • +1

There is no time on them is there. Just Temp and Humidity.

        • +1

          When they're flashed there is.

I did all mine when i got them, forgot the standard setup only displayed temp/hum.

          • @Bunsen: Ah ok, thanks for reminding me. I did flash mine but didn't bother including the time. I just got rid of smiley face.

  • Site seems broken?

    • They're working on a new theme. Seems to be like a mobile site on desktop but still works.

    • I had to switch to Chrome on my phone to get the site to work (Firefox is my usual)

  • Sydney humidity:
    100%

    Sydney weather:
    3 degress.

  • My order's address defaulted to a Jacky Lac in west melbourne. Did this happen to anyone else?

    • Yep and mine got someone Jacky from QLD lol

  • Thanks OP, grab one

  • Mmmmm it's telling me coupon code doesn't exist

    • On the product page where it says "Ship From, Version, Memory, Color" make sure you select 3pcs.

      • Thanks. Turns out I need to set the website to Australia. Setting shipping to Australia does not work.

  • +1

Anyone bought from Hekka before and care to comment on experience?

    • +3

There's plenty of previous deals and after posting a lot I can certainly vouch for them. As with all things China orders can take a few weeks to a month or 2. My last order was reasonable fast at 4 weeks.

      • +2

Sorry usually I research but on the road so lack of resources. Thanks for the heads up.

    • Have used them 3 x now and no issues.

  • Strange, I get error messages "Doesn't meet requirements"

  • +2

FYI, if you don't mind waiting (usually 2-3 weeks), Aliexpress got the same thing for 13AUD and free delivery.

    • 3 for $13 AU?

      • only 2, or 1 for 6-8AUD depends on the seller. Its not a better deal than the one from Hekka, but for those who just want one or two instead of three, this might be better

        • +2

And at least the Aliexpress Website and coupons work,
and don't think I'm Bernard from NSW.

That Hekka site is a joke, on Firefox or Chrome

          • @Sinesweep: Log out and back in and your details should then show correctly. I think it just picks a random Name/Place when signing up (silly).

I agree. site is shocking. I do need a few more but will give this deal a miss. Got my last ones from previous OZB deals a tad cheaper, 3 pack $8.99 & 4 Pack $14.00.

            • @Borg: Now it thinks I'm called Ben

and it is actually processing an order for Bernhard with a paypal payment method

for the correct price of $14USD

It just went from a joke to a little bit scary

          • @Sinesweep: Strange, for some reason I order using your account :(

How this is possible? I agree this is scary and the site is total joke…

I'm really sorry that for some reason I hijack your account. How can I rectify this?

edit: I'm trying to contacting Hekka Support to cancel the order…

            • @ben1680: I have no idea what is happening but If its any consolation I have your confirmation email in my junk folder.

You may want to create a new account if you ever order from them again.

I wont be using them ever.

              • @Sinesweep: Thank you for the update.
I have contacted them to cancel that order made with your account, and they said that they have cancelled the order now (although the order status is still said processing instead of closed)

Hopefully they cancel the order and process the refund properly as I can't keep bothering you for the status of my order.

Sorry for the confusion and trouble…

                • @ben1680: No trouble Ben, not your fault. Hope it works out.

This is in my spam folder:

Per your request, I have cancelled your order and we are now processing the refund to your original method of payment. Depending on your payment method, it typically takes 5 business days for the refund to be completed, but sometimes it can take more depending on how much time your payment provider takes to process the refund (up to 15 business days).

                  • @Sinesweep: Thank you again for letting me know about order cancellation email from them.

That's will be helpful in case they failed to process the refund…

I'm glad that you managed to get the same product cheaper on Aliexpress…

Why not include the link to your AliExpress to make things easier.

  • Not to take away from this deal but had a quick look around. A three pack from Mijia MI Online Store at AliExpress costs US $12.35 + US$2.44. There is a Coupon there for US$4.00 off anything over $5.00 hence makes this US $10.79 (Inc Shipping). Might just grab from there as decent price.

    • +1

US$16.27 inc GST. That US$4 off US$5 coupon is a new user code so not everyone can get it.

      • +1

I am not a new user but understand the GST part. Ended up costing US $12.27 so apologies for the noted US$10.79 above.
CORRECTION: @Clear: You are absolutely right and the $12.27 then showed as US $16.27. Mmmm. I'm going to stay very quiet now and sit in the corner. Sorry. :-(

        • +1

Got a 3 pack from Ali Express for Au $17.63 delivered as I had some random $5.66 coupon just for being me I guess.

3 Bluetooth Temperature Humidity Sensors and an identity crisis for under 18 bucks, nice

          • @Sinesweep: Which Aliexpress site?

            • +2

@Borg: Main site - I just clicked your link

              Subtotal AU $17.72
              Shipping AU $3.45
              AliExpress Coupon -AU $5.66
              Tax AU $2.11
              Total AU $17.63

I expect that $5.66 discount I got is because I've bought a couple of wireless chargers from them a few weeks ago (only $20 total though)

              • @Sinesweep: Nice. No such luck for myself.

                • @Borg: @Sinesweep: Actually I revisited Aliexpress this evening as there was a 20% off Aliexpress CR Deal
The other day (noted above) the same showed and I was in fact correct as the "Check Out" value was indeed US$12.35 (not US 16.27) so pretty much the same as what you paid.

                  Subtotal US $12.35
                  Shipping US $2.44
                  AliExpress Coupon -US $4.00
                  Tax US $1.48
                  Total US $12.27

So worked out well as I used my WISE Visa for the FX so total was AU$17.09. Combine that with the 20% off Aliexpress CR Deal this evening which tracked as 3.40, ended up costing AU13.69. Glad I waited.

  • Showing as $50

    • Did you apply the coupon code?

  • Any deals on ones with a tvoc sensor too?

  • I could not get free shipping with the code applied? Just me or?

  • Can this control the dehumidifier and ac of a room
with smart plugs when they go above and below a certain temp?

    • If you had both in the likes of HomeAssistant then yes. One could set a automation like "If Temp is above 20c the turn on Plugxx". There are things to consider like…….what if your turn it off and it is still above 20c, it will auto turn back on :-) There are ways around this with conditions etc but best Google that and HomeAssistant.

  • Thanks just got some. These can be used "dumb" right? not connected to anything, just showing the statistics for wherever it's placed

    • Yes as they have a display. Note: They are very small and not backlit so not the easiest to view from afar or in darker locations.

    • Yes, I use them in my 3D printer filament dryboxes just for the LCD display of humidity.

  • Where does it say "3 pack"?
    The description says "Quantity: 1PCS"

    • +1

Under "Ship From, Version, Memory, Color" select "3PCS"

Click on that and it'll ask you to select 3PCS

      • Oh yeah, missed that part. Thank you.

But could not overcome an obstacle of coupon being not applicable.
Some comments above say I need to "switch website to Australia" - I can't see it.
The usability of the website is pretty bad.
Also considering security issues mentioned here - I will give it a miss.

        • I updated the link to the au website after that. Unfortunately their website was redesigned by the IT team and not the web designers it seems as the UI is like a mobile website. Still a genuine store however.

          • +2

@Clear: It's not so much the design (which is a mess) but more the security and users noting that they end up landing in other users accounts when buying. That's shocking.

  • Thanks, ordered.
Worked out as AU$18.37 for me.

  • +3

    @ ben and sine

I thought you guys were pulling our legs, but you sound serious.

That's horrific. 2 random strangers getting their details mixed up by an online store is …. Very scary. No way am I going near this one.

I have a person in America who recently (last year or so) created a Google account presumably very similar to mine (probably with a number attached). She just keep forgetting to include the number. I keep getting her email, including from banks, shops, government departments, religious organisations and MAGA groups etc. Most recently from a real estate conveyancing firm with house sale documents attached. I've replied to lots of them explaining and asking them to tell the stupid woman to email me so I can forward her junk to her, but no luck.

I've had my full name as my Google account for decades (well 1 decade at least). I've managed to keep it fairly clean of spam, but now I'm being downed.

  • I'm trying to add these into my home assistant using the xiaomi_miio integration, but it's saying it's not recognised, and then giving me a long list of device integrations I could choose from. Anyone know which one to choose? there are things like zhimi.airmonitor.v1 and cgllc.airmonitor.b1 and a hundred other things I don't particularly feel like doing manual testing one by one if someone else has already solved it :)
