I have sung a birthday song to them

    • +1

      Proof or it didn't happen ! (j/k)

  • +1

THIS TASK IS ALL PARTIED OUT!
Turns out people really do want to celebrate our birthday…
    if we pay them.

  • $10 option - exhausted!

    • +2

I can't even go through $75,000 that quickly at the strippers!

      • +7

Stop going to the $10 strippers

        • +3

          But he may have coupons

  • +1

They really underestimated how much people want to celebrate their birthday.

  • +2

Ahh crap I entered the 21k only draw 😬

    • +1

i think i did that too, i haven't received any $10 digital card lol

  • Would be pretty cool if someone here won the major draw 🙂

    • +5

Imagine that. With a fake name and DOB
      I would literally cry

  • +1

Who else is considering the $50 (and above) options? 😬

    • +4

I’ve just spent the last 3 hours making a cake. Definitely won’t be quitting my day job.

    • +1

For the creative types, this doesn't look too hard… A couple of Amazon toilet roll boxes for a cake… and so on…
      $5,000
      THE BWS BIRTHDAY BONANZA
Buckle up this is for all the marbles.

Pop out of a giant BWS cake, in front of a BWS store, singing an original BWS birthday song, in a BWS birthday outfit, holding a ‘happy birthday BWS’ sign, while dancing a BWS birthday dance.
Send us a video of you performing the task.
Task must be performed in front of a BWS store, not inside.
Every action must be clearly shown for you to get paid.
Make the cake big! Like 1.5m big!
      Portrait videos only.
Make your mum proud and make yourself $5000.

      • +1

But what's "an original BWS birthday song"? You have to compose your own birthday song? 🤔

        • +2

Presumably one they can use in advertising without breaching copyright. While not original, Happy Birthday To You may even meet their needs now despite not being original.

    • Might do the $100 cake for $4 from woolies. 5 mins in the microwave apparently.

      • They said they can tell it it's a store-bought cake though 🤔🤔

        • Buy this and some caster sugar for frosting.

          Microwave (1100W).
What You Will Need: 2/3 cup (160mL) milk, 60g (3 tablespoons) melted butter or 60mL of vegetable oil, 1 (50g) egg.
          1. Empty cake mix into a bowl with egg, milk and either melted butter or oil.
          2. Mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon and pour cake mix into a lightly greased microwavable 8" ring pan. Spread mix evenly around pan.
          3. Place into the microwave and cook on High (1100W) for 5 minutes or until cooked when a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. 4 Stand for 5 minutes in the pan before inverting onto a cooling rack.

Or you can get a mix for $1.75 but that is longer than 5 mins in the microwave.

          • @Sheng: Yeah, that's the way for sure. I'd do it if I weren't working.

      • +1

        Why are you microwaving it?

  • If you choose a cake entry do they hold a claim? I am happy to make a cake but don't want to get it finished then find out its all claimed :O

    • +1

I think you have to submit straight away

  • +5

I just received an email saying,
"Congratulations, your claim has been approved."
    I entered for $10.

    • +1

did you write anything fancy or just generic?

      • +7

        Happy Birthday, best wishes

      • +3

I tried (and failed badly) to write an acrostic open with HAPPY. Also got the $10. Used it to buy an Amazon gift card

        • I wonder if they appreciated the craft? Burp with style!

    • Me too, yay!!

  • Just got approved they will send the digital gift card in 2 days .

  • +2

"HBD BWS here's your ten characters" just got me ten buckeroos. Cheers Spacky.

  • +5

Apparently my cake wasn't pretty enough lol

  • +3

    LMAO!
HIP HIP PAYDAY! Your BWS Pay-For-Hooray task has been approved.
I was CONFIDENT this would be rejected, good to see they have a sense of humour, it's not really the type of comment I thought they'd publish…
(I assume they wont be adding all 7,500 comments to their site?)
Roses are red, violets are blue, my liver is wrecked thanks to you! Happy Birthday.

    • +1

I think anything that's remotely related to wishing a Happy Birthday that's not offensive should be fine.

  • +1

failed miserably, not even a response. :(

  • +2

Anyone dance and get a response yet?

    • +2

I did. No response yet lol

      • +7

Me neither. I'm growing concerned I embarrassed myself for no money. I guess I do that daily anyway

        • +3

Give it time, it's likely to take them a while to process them all… I entered with just a $10 comment about 15mins after it was posted on here, I didn't get the approved email until late today…

(You're brave, your footage is likely to end up on a TV ad or the likes, lol)

          • +1

@FLICKIT: Yeah, I did it almost immediately, got it; but I don't think many others are getting it for some reason. Maybe someone bypassed the verification and got them all. I wonder if we could just keep submitting that form on that page after you submit your phone number… Hmm…

Either that, or when the rate got very high, they cut it off arbitrarily. see my dev/null comment.

The question would be where would the sms go? Into a blackhole?

            • +1

@RebelOrlan: The $50 dance is still available so I doubt it's been "cut off"…

              $50
              DO A BWS BIRTHDAY DANCE
Limber up and clear some space. Here’s what you need to do.
Video yourself doing a BWS dance.
Use your body to spell out ‘BWS’ in the dance something like the YMCA.
Dance to this song and this song only.
              Portrait videos only (obvs).
No children. This is a fun 18+ kinda dance.

(I can see them editing all the videos into something quite amusing!)

        • +4

I had a mask on. Identity preserved

          • +2

@easternculture: Hmmm, I'm not sure a gimp-mask fits their image though, so you may be out of luck sorry :( (j/k)

    • +2

My partner did it and was approved within 12 hours, got the $50 gift card maybe within 24-36 hours.

Absolutely worth having that video for future memories :)

  • +3

I'm guessing unless you were one of the first to submit when this offer came up; that the rest probably went to /dev/null.

    lol.

    • +2

Give it time, it's a lot to be processed

  • +2

Just got the sms with the $10 activation details. All setup in under 2mins

  • I have a $10 card from this, and my card from the Bundaberg Ginger Beer. Can I spend these online anywhere that supports Google Pay? Split payments allowed? I want to reinvest my booze winnings into more booze of course.

  • +2

My $10 claim accepted just now

  • +2

Got my email about my $10 claim being accepted :)

  • +3

Got my $20 for singing happy birthday 🥳

  • +3

So the $10 is not guaranteed? You need a witty and special birthday wish to get it?

I submitted on 2 June and no response.

    • +2

Doubt it, I just got my confirmation email and mine was a pretty basic happy birthday bws message

    • +2

No.. I just got my $10… never been paid more to write two words.

    • got mine too and I said something quite stupid too

    • +1

same - have you gotten yours yet?

      • +2

        Nah man still nothing :(

I got the initial email saying I’ve entered the draw for $21k. But no links to $10 gift card

        HIP HIP HOORAY!

Thanks for entering the promotion. Someone should be able to take a look at your submission within the next 72 hours!

You have also been entered into the major draw.

  • +6

I wrote a complaint in the birthday card about particular high prices on certain products and still got the $10

  • +1

Email just came in with approval. Wahoo, a few craft beers will do.

  • +5

I still haven't received anything yet

    • +3

      same

    • +2

      Same

    • +3

      Same

    • +3

My housemate received the email but not the SMS. Weird.

  • Received $20 gift voucher via sms for happy birthday song. Bought/converted to Amazon voucher using Aus Post gift card.

Wife has not received anything yet and was done an hour later than myself.

    • -2

Update - got approved for additional birthday song and birthday cake and received both digital cc's! Total or $140 for our family. Thanks OP!

  • +1

Just got my $10 approved and is now loaded on some sort of mastercard thing

    • +1

I xferred that into my google pay. I wasn't expecting to be straight forward but somehow it worked. Had to download some vault app but I didn't sign up or anything and deleted immediately thereafter. Of course I only provided fake name/address (only legit phone) as I'm paranoid.

  • +4

Annnnd my "dance" was rejected even though I followed their FAQ to the letter.
    Ok.

    • bummer

      • +1

Yeah, I only spent like 5 minutes on it, but its annoying not knowing what I apparently did wrong.

    • +7

They replied to me - very quickly.
Had to be a minimum of 10 seconds long and mine was like 8 seconds.
Damn, you'd reckon they'd make that clearer.

      • +1

Sounds like mine will be rejected then too. It was over 10, but wouldn't upload due to size requirements, so I trimmed it to 8.

      • +4

You really have to dig to find that in the T&C’s. This promotion is all over the place, no consistency or clear direction at all. My cake video was 7 seconds, uploaded Friday and still haven’t heard anything. What a waste of time and effort if they deny it..

      • +2

That’s ridiculous it literally just said ‘show us the cake’

  • Got my $10, had to download an app, added that digital card to Shopback, purchased a $10 amazon gc, delete app.

    Easy $$$

  • +2

Anyone made the cake got there reply? I’m still waiting…more than 72 hours!

  • How long did you guys wait until get approved or rejected?

    • +2

1 day for my cake to get rejected.

      • +1

Sorry to hear that, but why? Did they tell the reason?

    • +3

got rejected as well, no reason given!, data farming exercise by bws.

  • +1

I got sms but my code doesn’t work lol

  • I bought a gift card with mine, but the gift card isn't coming for some reason. Maybe it isn't supported anymore.

  • +3

They've started adding videos to their site:
    https://www.bwsbirthday.com.au/posts

The first 2 are at the same store in W.A., mates I guess…

    • -2

      Soft fruity white…. oh dear

      • +2

        They have Pommy accents
        Backpackers?

  • +2

WTF???? Some guy made a spaghetti mince cake??? So much for "following the requirements".

    • +2

Wondering was the Spaghetti mince cake approved or rejected? Haha

      • +1

Probably $100 worth of mince there.
