The list price in Japan is 1,880 yen, equivalent to about $20. So $85 seems a bit steep for this relatively cheap whiskey, even factoring in import costs.

$149 at Dans….. I think quite a few Whisky's from Japan are overpriced in AU.

      • +2

Yes, they are generally overpriced. But unlike the more expensive single malts and premium blended whiskeys, this cheap blended whiskey has no supply/demand issues in Japan to push the prices up.

thanks. will avoid then. because they try to rip ppl off

correct should be all up $50 at most here

Not to mention the pack of smokes that are 4 bucks over there and close to 40 here!

I believe if it's not Scotch, it's spelt with an e

      • I think the rule of thumb is that if the country of origin does not have the letter 'e', it is then spelt 'whisky' (with some exceptions)

        ie:

        Japan, Scotland, Canada = Whisky
        Ireland, America = Whiskey

        • Spell for your audience

  • Just order one to try, thanks op

I may as well get in early. “For relaxing times, make it Suntory time”

  • This is a pretty great whisky imo. Price is a bit steep (comes to $94 total for me), but I'm not going to Japan anytime soon, so I'm going to bite the bullet. Cheers OP

Sometimes the main cost is nostalgia and that is ok.

To each their own with taste but I found this total garbage. It's $85 (and often higher) only because it's Japanese whiskey that's in vogue at the moment. Drinks like a stock standard entry-level drop like Spey River (12) or Glen Grant (10) that can be had for about $60 from Dan Murphy's

  • I wouldn't touch anything to do with Liquorkart with a 10ft pole.

They are basically a drop shipper who will most of the time accept your order and then say theres none in stock and try and offer you a 'similar' replacement.

Also when you order they typically send out a tracking number from the courier without dropping anything off at the courier and then ignore your calls (which reroute to India)

    Just avoid

Bought for $14 equivalent several years back in Japan

    Nasty stuff

Found it on the top shelf behind a cabinet at a premium merchant in Katoomba for $160.

This whole japaense whiskey craze is mind boggling
