A fantastic book about a fellow Australian breaking out of a maximum security prison in Victoria and escaping to India.

  • Thanks OP sucks that I can't but straight from the Amazon app

    • I know, right! šŸ™ It was very convenient before.

    • You can pay for books directly from the Kindle app if you install it from the Amazon App Store, but I've read reports that Google Play automatically updates it and disables in-app payments. I'm giving it a try anyway.
Uninstall the original Kindle app before installing the Amazon App Store version.

      • It worked for a while, but then the app updated and I can't anymore šŸ™

  • good read, anyone know when Apple is releasing the tv series?

  • Thanks! That was an easy buy

  • It was free on Audible a couple of months ago

Love this good, Great read. Being an Indian, I can confirm Gregory David Roberts's portray of Indian people and culture is exactly right.

One thing worth noting is the family have trashed the author for giving a very exaggerated view of the authorā€™s own life. He screwed a number of people over, took credit for othersā€™ good works, etc but didnā€™t write about that. (Oddly enough)

Think of the book as historically/culturally accurate fiction. Still a good read.

Couldn't get past the authors self grandiosity and lies. Tapped out half way

  • Read it some years ago. First half is terrific. Second half is somewhat OTT. Havent read the sequel

  • Hard to know how forthright the author is for sure- regardless, at the very least is is an exceptional work of historical fiction, or perhaps a brilliant bit of writing based on a true story
