They need to stop doing 8GB RAM and move up to 16GB minimum. My phone has more RAM than this.. sigh
Main difference is 2 cores v 4. Both have HT.
What are you wanting to use it for?
Thanks, Not after one myself, just added it as a option, guessing ops is a newer model
I think considering the price difference between OPs i5 model and your suggestion, yours is the pick of those two for sure
Edit: unless there's some difference other than the specs that I'm not aware of
11th gen i3 = 2 core 4 thread, per core being about ~17% faster than the 10th gen i5
Though the older i5 have double amount of cores(each being a bit slower), multi-thread performance is about ~27% better.
Since both isn't quite "gaming capable", I think single core performance isn't as critical, making the older i5 a slightly better buy.
It is $719 not $619 now.
Did huawei get unbanned?
They were only banned from providing telecommunications infrastructure, but if their consumer stuff becomes used widespread enough they wont have to spy through the provider anyways.
Why make the spying market a Google monopoly? Least the others compete.
I doubt the defense contractors are buying Huawei laptops or phones, but they may have bans there.
I thought Huawei turn into a pork company?
Is RAM upgradable in this laptop?
I dont think it is possible for d14 as the ram is soldered. It is likely the same for d15.
All my past orders through Amazon UK via AU got cancelled
Looks like a nicely built hardware. What's the go with 16gb?
Does anyone know if it can be upgraded?
8gb seems a bit on the low side.
Like most cheaper laptops these days RAM is soldered on and can't be upgraded. Only the SSD appears to be upgradeable.
8 GB is enough for 1-2 apps and lighter tasks but the 16GB will give more than enough space for the fatter apps (i.e. Chrome with many tabs open) the chance to keep things in memory. Win10 and Win11 will run fine but just expect half your RAM going to the OS and drivers + startup apps (like those updater apps). That should leave 4 GB for apps. Office will start fine but once you get some large files going (mainly PPT can use RAM up quick) then you'll get closer to the 8 GB. Word and Excel for most people will run fine without RAM being an issue.
bought one
These are quite a premium looking bit of kit, definitely taken some design queues (aesthetically) from the Macbooks.
One thing that has mixed review on these is the placement of the webcam, its mounted on a popup button in the middle of the F keys - can impact the viewing angle as its much lower than the standard spot on the top of the screen.
We've got a few of the previous gen D14s for our spare remote working laptops, they are nice to use, keyboard feel is good and the charging adaptor is a nice design also.
I'm looking to buy a new laptop.
I do a bit of video editing would this be any good? Like VHS to digital.
Along with normal sort of computer usage of internet and word processing.
Would this be suitable?
What's the battery life like?
Any info would be great.
Not great for video editing but the normal computer usage will be fine. The built-in graphics are for watching videos. For editing videos you really should use a dedicated GPU which tends to be very high end laptops or desktops with a graphics card.
VHS to digital isn't really video editing per say as you could capture it using some form of USB device but a desktop gives you much greater options when it comes to editing and the cards you can put in them for your workload.
It's just a part time hobby really.
Yes I use a special capture device then edit with wondershare video editor after.
Anyone get a delivery dates? Still waiting
if only the i5 variant had a 16gb version too
