Looks interesting. Need a new universal remote. The buttons don't light up in the dark do they, which is definitely a down side.
10 to 30 days shipping. Hmm
Might have to see if anything local or quicker
Do need a new remote.. My Logitech 650 is showing it's age with some buttons intermittently workingWish Logitech kept making remotes though.
Encify, we recommend customers choose "Australia Expedited Air" for shipping, 11-14 business days for delivery.
No bluetooth? (for Chromecast, Playstation etc.)
Does this do actions? Why do you say 'No bluetooth'?
An Amazon review says it didn't work for their Chromecast… https://www.amazon.com.au/SofaBaton-U1-Smartphone-Entertainm…
The website mentions Bluetooth but not in the same way the X1 model does…
U1: http://www.sofabaton.com/U1.html
X1: http://www.sofabaton.com/X1.htmlThe U1 says "Bluetooth mode", the X1 says "Bluetooth, LAN, and IR control".
Keen to hear feedback from someone who owns a U1.
I'm keen for something to replace my harmony ultimate, but I don't think the U1 is the right fit. Some good feedback here: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/96pp5nw9
My two work with both my Chromecasts almost perfectly. The annoying thing is that you need to click a button to wake it up for it to work after doing nothing for about 10 seconds.
Got one of these. Can't speak to the Bluetooth.
IR works, but isn't wonderful - the beam is highly directional and if the receiver sensor is badly placed it can be hard to trigger commands. So we can control an apple TV4 easily, a Yamaha Amp behind glass fairly reliably, but controlling a (admittedly very old) Samsung TV is hit and miss - powering on and off tends to a wild light sabre exercise and changing channel is a pain in the backside.
On the upside, the app makes it easy to set up custom/mix and match controls between different devices.
TLDR, don't know about the bluetooth, IR is a bit crap, overall programming functionality is good.
At $40, I'd buy again, as nothing else seems to compete at the moment.
I agree with the IR. It's very awkward. My CCWGTV remote would work even pointed backwards.
It's a shame that Logitech is no longer in the remote business. The design of the SofaBaton is really similar to the Logitech Harmony Companion remote.
Anyone know if this is any good? Another Logitech user here that's on its last legs.
Also keen to know if it can replace the top Logitech,
Very unlikely if you are doing clever things with the logitech. The sofabaton is capable (but clunky) at replacing multiple remotes - it's supposed to support command chains, but I wouldn't expect it to be reliable given how finicky the IR beam is.
But it also seems to be the only game in town at the moment.
I guess we wait for something to replace the Harmony Elite
My remote control lags and also because of my sound bar blocks the signal somehow too.
Will this help?
