Dyson Airwrap $799 ($719.10 with Gift Card) Delivered, Bonus $20 Voucher (in July) & $25 ShopBack Cashback @ The Iconic

110

Total comes out to be $694.10 plus $20 iconic voucher (emailed in July). Not the cheapest but haven’t seen many Dyson Airwrap deals lately where there’s been stock. Iconic has stock of the long barrel for shoulder length and longer hair. Mods, please move to forums if not appropriate as a deal post.

  1. buy $799 worth of the ultimate gift card for $719.10 from this post (deal ends tonight): https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/702027
  2. go to the iconic via shopback link - because the ultimate gift card is a Visa card, it becomes eligible for for cash back. They currently have 20% cash back at the iconic capped at $25 (though I got $27.27 cash back).
  3. enter your ultimate gc number into payments as a credit card
  4. in July you’ll get a $20 voucher from the iconic for purchases over $50.
  5. (bonus step for intl travellers, seeing as this is a thing again: claim TRS on $799, save a further $72.63)

I got the ultimate card instantly yesterday morning. Ordered it all within 10min and confirmed the shopback cashback this morning. Picking up the Airwrap tomorrow. I figured maybe this would benefit one other person that’s been waiting around for some sort of deal. [update: delivered within 24 hours]

Alternate: Myer is out of stock when I checked, but if you can wait til they’re in stock, the other option is the myer giftcard purchase 15% bonus at Coles and purchase $700 worth of myer gift cards to get $805 value, but no cash back on gift cards.

According to my missus the new one is out in the next couple of monthS.

    • +2

Next month supposedly, with a higher price tag ($100 or more but they cannot confirm either). It might be worth the wait but you can also buy the new attachments for this one.

I couldn’t wait and the new one will go out of stock and will be hard to find a deal. After TRS, it brings it down to $620 vs $800. Happy to pay $100 for attachments if needed.

  • Can you explain the TRS thing ? I’m not familiar with this?

    • +1

      travelling overseas within 60 days?

If so, buy an item, at the airport visit the TRS office with your item and receipt

TRS will give you back whatever the GST is on your receipt

      • Thank you, I am travelling. This will be a great deal for me, I really appreciate it

        • +1

note, you need to show the physical item

If its in your checked in luggage, there is another desk outside the checkin that you can open your luggage, they will verify you have the product and give you a receipt.

take this receipt to the TRS.

also note, the TRS lines are usually long. If your flight departs within 30 minutes they will not serve you.
best you get there 90 minutes before your flight leaves

Once you board, you cannot retrospectively submit a claim.

          https://www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/touris…

      • If you bring the TRS item(s) back to Australia you now must declare them (and pay back the tax) even if they’re under the tax-free threshold.
        This was changed during COVID.

        https://www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/touris…

        • It wasn’t changed during COVID. Technically you’ve always had to do it. I did it in 2010 on a camera after going to Florida.
They just never (used to) enforce it

          • +1

@beatsntoons: You could count it as your $900 duty free allowance before. It was changed that you can’t use your duty free allowance for any TRS items, but perhaps its been changed back since as well.

            From the article:

Further efforts to force returning Australians to repay the GST on all items they had previously claimed through the TRS, irrespective of the duty-free threshold, were also reversed to the delight of local travellers.

Only relevant if you're travelling overseas. You can claim tax back on items you purchased within 60 days of departure and > $300 (provided you are taking the item with you in your carry-on). Technically (legally!) you're not supposed to the bring the item back (or at least your supposed to pay the tax back when you do). There's a bunch of other conditions here.

      • +1

        This is ocorrect

technically, if you're bringing it back you need to pay the GST back

Ive personally never seen this enforced

        • +2

Not true. If it was under the duty free threshold then you didn’t have to pay GST. Only had to for portion over your $900 duty free.

It was changed during Covid that you couldn’t get ANY TRS duty free exemption for items claimed, but this has since been reversed.

          • @ATangk: Absolutely this ^^^ it’s on the website, if below $900 so don’t buy anything else or spread the spend amongst the family or friends!

            • +1

@slee123: Can combine 2 people to get $1800 if you're bringing through a more expensive phone/laptop.

    • Travellers GST free . Take the item and your receipt to the airport when you are travelling overseas . Gives you the GST back. Must be purchased within a month of travel.
This hairstyler comes in a MASSIVE case and will take up a considerable amount of space in your suitcase if travelling.

Bonus tip: Buying on eBay with vouchers gives you a tax invoice WITHOUT the discount code price difference in it. Which means you would end up claiming more back in tax.

      • My friend carried the packaging for her purchases and said it was in her suitcase and they allowed it. Might be agent dependent, but worthwhile trying. Otherwise do it through the checked in bag process.

Thanks OP. Fiancee is happy to get any kind of discount on this.

  • Using a coupon code might not let you get the $25 cashback via Shopback

    • No coupon code required for this.

  • As long as it doesn’t go OOS otherwise you are stuck with Ultimate Gift Card.

    • True but then you have a few choices of where to shop. I got the home one with Jb hifi etc.

It was a quick turnaround. Better than buying using the Cole’s 10% off ultimate that ended on Tuesday - that required 8 purchases and then purchasing iconic gift cards online in order to redeem in on transaction.

I "purchased" it from the flybuys store using points.
I do like it but no way would I pay anywhere near its rrp for it.
It does take up a fair bit of real estate in my bathroom . Mostly use it for the smoothing brush. The curl attachment works well on shorter to medium hair , but my girlfriend tells me my hair looks like I just got out of bed. The curls don't last long and are more like giving you wavey hair.
It also works best if your hair is at least 80% dry before using this device ( or lightly spraying dry hair with water).

  • It is showing as in stock for me right now, not sure how to alert in stock not oos
