Cheapest Way to Send Extra Baggage from Europe to Australia?

Hey!

After two years of living in Sweden, my wife and I are returning to Australia :)

We now have very optimistic views on electric vehicles and renewable energy, very negative opinions on lockdowns/masks and we get way too excited when we see the sun!

After spending way too much on a one-way ticket with Qantas, we're disappointed to see that we can't add extra baggage - as it's a codeshare with Emarites, the best they could offer was 900 EURO for two extra bags (60kg)

Does anyone have some advice to do this cheaper? Any companies you've used before?

Why are you coming back here then? ๐Ÿ˜‚ Australia loves coal and staying home.

If you donโ€™t want the suitcase Iโ€™d consider putting items in a box, as you will fit more items with sea freight.

Lots of companies do excess baggage. Door to door or port to port
give it a google, is a really big industry in London with all the working holidaymakers.

    • Thanks, these guys seem to be the best so far, but gotta be careful - their 'quotes' don't include the 200+ AUD customs check fee (gotta read the fine print!)

    • Haha, yep! I realised I asked this before after I sent - I used UPS in the end, but they seem to be more expensive now. Seems to be different when you go the other way

I just checked out seven seas and they seem pretty good, while two years ago (and the other way) they were too expensive.

  • You expect someone living is Australia to give advice on shipping costs from Sweden to Australia - when you actually live there????
Hows about doing a bit of local checking first?
Seriously, how lazy are some people. Viz. all OZB'ers always happy to help, but do a bit to help yourself first.

      Welcome back.

    • What makes you think I've not done local checking myself first? I'm sure there's heaps of collective experience going from Europe to Aus here and I'm looking for a 'hack' that I haven't yet been able to find

    Will it be flat pack?

    How were the meat balls?

  • What happens if you put you Qantas booking reference into emirates website? Does flight details come up?

  • Try excess-international. Think when I was sending 2x large suit case size boxes in 2018 it was like $120 a box. Might be a bit more expensive now considering container freight costs have gone 4x at a minimum (depending on sea routes)
