Hello everyone :)
As my wife and I are starting the move to Sweden, we've realised the 25kg (pp) limit on our flight is not going to cut it!
Do you have any advice for us? A luggage shipping company, to ship, maybe… 50kg?
Thanks!

I wish I could, but the flight is a special COVID flight and not allowing this!
try Pack n send
This is the most efficient option but unlikely the cheapest.
you'd be surprised. I've seen them come on top compared to other options, and since they use DHL it's super quick. it all depends on what the OP needs though
Thanks!

Do your items need to arrive quickly? If not, then I recently used Seven Seas Worldwide to have boxes sent from the UK via ship. Total weight was approx. 90kg (although quote was based on volume of 2 boxes and 1 suitcase each with a 30kg max weight). Left in late Jan, arrived early April, cost was $160 + £140. There were other companies that easily had double the quote for the same job.
How big were the boxes approximately?
That seems like a very good deal, what about import duties and other BS charges?
The box sizes were Medium (51x41x31cm) and Large (61x51x41cm). Breakdown of charges:
UK
Collect Full £21
Baggage Worldwide Transfer: Birmingham Depot to Ashford International £1.32
Shipping to Australia from UK £117.99
Insurance £10.50
Total £140.31
Australia
Inter-Depot Move $21.02
Goods Examination Fee $133.10
Deliver Full $5.83
Total $159.95
Hope this helps.
Very helpful - thanks!
First off have a look at how much it would be to buy more luggage with your airline. Also check the business class upgrade prices.
It might be the same amount as shipping boxes. Shipping stuff by boat that you don’t need yet would be the cheapest.
What are you sending?
I did this with Malaysian Airlines and they wanted £350+ for an additional suitcase.
I did an international move with 2 suitcases. My tip is to audit your possessions and toss anything you don't need.
That said, I still have a few things in the 'storage unit' (parent's house) that I didn't want to throw out but weren't worth bringing. I haven't been back yet, but when I do I think I'll grab a few things to bring over.
I have exactly 1 pro tip. Check voltage on electronics. I had to buy new clippers and a replacement power brick for my xbox because the voltage was different. All my other electronics were fine. I would have still brought the xbox, but the clippers were wasted space.
Thanks for this, very helpful :)
Probably cheaper to upgrade to Business class or similar.
50kg is not a lot.
Shipping companies usually charge for volume not weight.
