Best 12inch Device for Movies/YouTube Et Al

My B'day is coming up and i have $400 ish to spend on a device to watch youtube etc during my lunch break at work. So I'm a smoker and every break is spent in the back of my car watching youtube on my ONEPLUS 7 pro. I wanted to hotspot my phone with a larger screen. Any help would be appreciated.

    • Proper referencing is what separates us from the animals (not that I ever could figure out wtf I was doing)

    • Bruh i have zero idea what that means.

Thanks for always having my back brah

      • Just had a quick look at the comments and it seems Lenovo lacks updates and the mipad receives the updates. In your opinion is this a deal breaker?

        • software updates matters a lot broskii, go with mipad. if I were you Id go for ipad base model cost 400 something dollars in education store

        • Xiaomi does many empty updates though.
You will get an update which does little to nothing, sometimes literally nothing. But it makes their devices look better, and you see some numbers go up. So that's not much of a deciding point.

I have far more faith in Sony even though they get the brunt of criticisms. They're one of the few companies that do full proper updates, for longer periods, and have a low bug history. Samsung is (or has) finally caught up with the S10+/OneUI platform. Google Pixels are one of the worst, constant updates, many bugs introduced and bad QA procedure in general. That's just how it goes in Android land, where phones aren't supported well, and things get much worse when you look at Tablets, Boxes, and TV units.

        • Lenovo P12 Pro for $899 AUD and way out of your budget proves Lenovo's reputation wrong. Ships with Android 11, OTA updates to Android 12 and Android 13 Beta already available for download.

      for movies

      Of course it is.

    • Oh good, I'm not the only one.

  • there really isn't anything other than shitty laptops with bad battery life for that price.
That Lenovo tablet posted would be your best bet for under $400.

Another option for $537 would be Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5 Chromebook that's 13.3" display.

An Ipad is absolutely terrible choice if you actually watch movies, the screens form factor on iPads means that you would have massive black bars even more so than watching movies on a TV.

  • Stick with your phone and move it closer to your face.

A 6" screen held close to your face gives you the same viewing size picture as a 65" TV from 3 metres away.
