  • A question for the experienced skateboarders - would it be a good idea to buy a few backups for spare parts to allow for wear and tear Eg new wheels or bearings

How much mileage can you get from a longboard before things need repairing

Depends on what you're doing and where you're skating.

I only use mine on smooth concrete & only when it's dry. I don't do tricks. I've never had to replace anything due to mechanical failure, however I have replaced wheels/bushings/bearings/grip tape mainly because they change colour and look crusty after a while.

Bearings are roughly $30, wheels range from $50 to $100 depending on brand. Bushings are about $15-30 depending on brand too. Grip tape is about $15.

To add to this. You can just clean and relube bearings easily. Pop them off the website and take the caps off, rinse then around on some alcohol solution, let dry, put some oil (machine oil works or get some speed cream), and pop the caps back on.

If they're decent quality and haven't corroded, you can get years from bearings.

And if you're not power sliding you'll get a lot of mileage from wheels. I've had the same wheels on my surfskate/cruiser for about 4-5 years.

grip tape's easy to clean…just get one of those cheap fingernail brushes and belt sander cleaner/eraser.

nah, just buy spare parts as you need it. the parts you get on these completes isn't exactly trash, but there are better quality parts out there. if you start getting serious with skating, you'll want to upgrade to better stuff. bearings for sure.
and there's such a huge range of parts out there for you to experiment with, which i reckon is part of the fun with skating.

Not sure about longboards, but for a regular skateboard, it might be worth buying a complete just for a deck alone. Decks typically cost more than $50.

      Example: https://www.ocdskateshop.com.au/collections/decks?sort=priceā€¦

It is likely that you will need to replace your deck eventually.

Today saw random guy with Felix longboard at local park, smiled as known most probably OzBargainer. Already have a couple decks not really use much so didn't buy another though great deal fam!

    • Not going like lie almost stacked it a few times going pretty slow

  • Did anyone receive any wrong skateboards? I just opened mine and realised they gave me a girl complete in a style that isn't even on their site. Or anywhere online as a complete…

Seen a few of the Felixs longboards on marketplace and gumtree. Brand new. $150…
