That display is something to drool over… 600 nits oled…

But it’s still got the ancient Vega 7/8 graphics core, doesn’t it?
Apart from that it looks pretty good

  • +1

It's not like Vega is significantly limited unless you want to play AAA game titles at high/ultra. Plenty of videos online available showing the variety of games playable on Vega APU, like the one below with 20.

wow thats a monster. i dont get the usb2.0 ports though.

  • I’m not really sure if this deal is good tbh. $1400 is getting close to discrete gpu in laptop territory, if you aren’t desperate for an upgrade don’t buy this, wait for discounts on dell, hp, or Lenovo. Just for reference a month ago I bought a gaming laptop (legion 5 pro) from Lenovo for $1600 (20% off with 10% cash back) so 200 more than this deal, of which I got double the ram (32gb 3200mhz), same cpu, a 3060, and same ssd, with a 165hz refresh rate, 80 Whr battery. So I’m gonna just say this unless you a desperate for a laptop, wait for better deals to come.

It's comparable in price point to other OLED based laptops like Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro Ryzen Edition. Refer to my previous deal posts.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/680557

You are also comparing a gaming laptop with an IPS screen to one that is targeting designers with an OLED screen that has Pantone certification.

Can you please post the link to the deal you a referring to above as I have not seen a Legion 5 pro with 32GB RAM for $1600.

Specs on a laptop are more important than the screen. There is nothing wrong with IPS screens. If I were a designer I would prefer better specs than a great screen, if you really needed an oled screen you could use revolutionary technology such as hdmi or display port. In terms of specs this laptop is not good.

Here is the deal, essentially 20% off which made the laptop 1800 and then 10% cash back which made it 1600

So the list price wouldn’t have been 1600

The price without discount was $2260
        20% off = $1808
        10% cash back = $1627

Stopped reading after your first sentence.

Turns out people value things differently.

  • Would have appreciated 4k screen…for not much more you can get dell 4k oled when dell has eBay sales…with 1tb SSD.

Please provide a link to the deal you are referring to and the laptop?

  • I like it a lot

  • Where does it say 600 nits ? I can only find one tgat says 400 nits

    • Just go to the Asus website:

      https://www.asus.com/au/Laptops/For-Home/Vivobook/Vivobook-P…

I already posted this below in the OP

      Display
15.6-inch, FHD (1920 x 1080) OLED 16:9 aspect ratio, 0.2ms response time, 600nits peak brightness, DCI-P3: 100%, 1,000,000:1, VESA CERTIFIED Display HDR True Black 600, 1.07 billion colors, PANTONE Validated, Glossy display, 70% less harmful blue light, SGS Eye Care Display, Touch screen, - Screen-to-body ratio: 84 %

      • This link may not be the same screen as it says touch. The JB site doesn't seem to mention touch anywhere.

  • Touch or No touch?

  • price went back up $1,899?
