AmEx Statement Credits: Spend $150 or More, Get $15 Back @ Myer

660

Spotted this on my (primary) Qantas Discovery.

For anyone wondering:

  • Purchases of gift cards in a physical Myer store will work with this offer (as long as cashback is automatically credited to your account). Purchases of gift cards in a Myer store go through the same checkout system and same process as purchases of bedding, clothing, electrical, etc, so AMEX can only see you spent $150 on something in a Myer store. I purchased a Coles Group & Myer gift card in-store at Myer through this offer and the cashback credit was posted onto my account three days after my purchase.

  • Purchasing a Myer gift card through Myer’s gift card website will not work with this offer. The process for purchasing a gift card online from Myer is to go to https://retail.myergiftcards.com.au. This is a different website to the regular Myer website (https://www.myer.com.au) and the payment process is different for both websites, so AMEX can tell whether you spent money at the Myer website (which is okay for this deal) or at Myer’s gift card website (which is not okay for this deal). (This happened to some people in previous Myer/AMEX deals.)

          Woosh

    • I have got 20 for 100 spend, great find! good to use for GC purchase!

      • I think that would only work for physical GCs in store. Digital GCs online seem to be issued by a different site.

Has anyone else noticed lately that supplementary cards are not getting any offers? What's going on?

  • Don't have this offer. Darn! Still got the CBA 20 for 100 tho.

  • Didn’t get this on my Discovery card

  • Don't have this offer on any cards.

    • Same! No love from Amex for my Essential card.

Now that borders are open, I am considering the Explorer card, and if one gets better offers on that card.

      • Didn’t get on my explorer as well. ☹️

  • Received on Amex Low rate

  • Hey Wookie, question is unrelated to the post.
I was wondering if we are able to consolidate our JB HiFi gift cards into one? I know we can't do this online, but can we do this in store?

    • Not anymore to avoid fraud.

It is against JB Hi-Fi’s terms and conditions to do that. JB Hi-Fi sneakily added that cause either during or soon after a wildly popular 15% off TCN gift card deal at Coles during Black Friday 2020. I don’t know for certain whether this clause was actually added to the T&Cs because of that TCN gift card deal, but that would be my educated guess…

I’m not entirely sure whether you can consolidate JB Hi-Fi gift cards into one in-store anymore. I asked staff about it in late 2020, and I was told “absolutely not”. However, if you manage to convince/find a staff member to let you do this, I have no idea whether JB Hi-Fi’s sales system will actually let you do this. My guess is no, but I could be wrong!

The only workaround is to purchase an item using multiple JB Hi-Fi gift cards, then return it under JB Hi-Fi’s change of mind returns policy. However, it’s anyone’s guess whether the refund would go onto store credit or a JB Hi-Fi gift card, as it will depend on how staff are trained at a particular store. (Also, there’s a remote possibility you’ll end up having the refund processed back onto a card from a financial institution or even cash, but the emphasis really is on remote possibility.)

No surprise, I didn't get it on my David Jones Amex :P

I never doubted you/Amex Wookie, but after my “spend” the offer disappeared from Saved on the expiry date and only just appeared in savings a week later! The cogs just don’t turn as easily at Amex these days.
