The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in partnership with industry experts here in Australia have developed new technologies and standards which enable the production of long life, high-performance Australian Medical Sheepskins. The Medical Sheepskin rug consists of between 4000 to 6000 wool fibres per square centimetre, the unique nature of the dense Australian Medical Sheepskins provides outstanding support. Collectively this mass of individually aligned fibres reduces pressure by distributing the load of the user. In fact, CSIRO studies reveal a pressure reduction of more than 50% when lying on an Australian Medical Sheepskin compared to a mattress.

  What is the difference between a normal sheepskin and a medical sheepskin? List pros/cons please.

    The Medical Sheepskin Rugs are tanned differently compared to our normal Sheepskin Rugs. They are also washable at 110°C.

    All of our Medical Sheepskin Rugs are Medically Certified by the Australian Sheepskin Industry & CSIRO.

      They detail the benefits of what medical sheepskins provide.
      You might want to add more flavour for people who have no idea what they are - what these are used for (or could be used for) both in a medical and non medical sense.
      I had no idea what they would be used for and as someone without prior knowledge I assume medical comes with tagible health benefits which isn't clear in your description.

        It does have some context (as per the below points copied from the product page), but agree, lacks sufficient details for a person with no knowledge to buy this one over a standard sheepskin rug.

  Do you have a link to CSIRO report/research to backup your claims. Also what authority does the aus sheepskin industry have to medically certify something.
