        that came out wrong 😑

        • +2

          Came huh. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • +38

FYI the pick up price is $20.95

    • +10

The closest kfcs in any direction to me is min 15 minute drive, plus the time to get out of the car and walk through the shopping centre to the food court.

$3 is worth imo, especially after messy kick ons sat night - if only there was a way to arrange for driver to also bring two orange gatorades too.

      • +8

How can the delivered price be more than the pick up price but delivery be free? What kinds of mathematical wizardry is this?

        • +4

          It's Dominos Math.

          • @timps: so buying one line item is better than adding more marked-up items (?)

        • +1

The delivery is free, its just you get a special discount for picking it up.

This is also the scam petrol stations tell the ACCC on increasing petrol prices on weekends.

          • -1

@Enterz: If you read the terms on the product itself it says "Free delivery offer waives the $8.95 delivery fee only." As in when it says free delivery it just gives you a discount equivalent to the delivery fee.

            • +1

@oscinator1988: And how does that explain the pick-up price still being $3 cheaper?

        • Menulog, Uber eats and Doordash take 10% of the food price as well as delivery.

          • @Chipwich: I thought it was way higher, like 40%

            How else does a $11 become a $19 item

      • Lol can we all come?

    • +1

and free chips & drink with survey

      • +2

Free large chips & 1.25L drink with survey

        • +3

I'm on special diet so I'll take small chips & a can instead

      • +17

i honestly feel im missing out by not taking advantage of the surveys. I could write a 1000 word essay on the numerous times ive been let down by kfc (and then go on to conclude i will yet again by ordering kfc this weekend)

        • +3

Have you ever complained? I did recently as they left out a few pieces of chicken, and they basically refunded me the majority of the cost in cash to my C/card a day or two later

          • +1

@Onemoredeal: i did once when they left out half my order because it was a build your own box, they just gave me $20 credit at the same branch

        • my local has such bad service and reviews, that when you pick up an order they pack in an additional flyer telling you to contact them if there's an issue, except it's not the general kfc contact details it's something the franchisee has set up so that head office doesn't hear about how badly they are run

          • @Jackson: The franchisee may be also trying to get the staff to pick up their game.

            • @JimB: if that was they case, he's been unsuccessful for a very long time… which makes me think he's not serious about it and the other theory is the correct one

              • @Jackson: Given the fact he's been in business for so long and doesn't care, I'd argue he's very successful… haha

          • @Jackson: On top of your receipt along with the store details is the store telephone number. If you have a problem, ring that number and they will fix it for you.
I don't think its anything dodgy if they pack an extra note as the customers are probably being further inconvenienced if they ring hq or contact via socials which won't result in the same resolution speed.

      • +2

Is there any way to do survey free chips/drink when I order through the app every time? Never have paper receipts.

        • use a made up number save screenshot and they probably won’t ask for proof anyway

          • @[Deactivated]: My local is very strict when it comes to the survey. They need a receipt, and actually check the code for validity.

            • @t25: do they also actually hand out receipts? my local doesn't 9and doesn't check codes)

              • @[Deactivated]: You have to ask for it otherwise they won't give you one.

    • Are they actually advertising "free delivery"? tut tut

  • +2

Personally this is lunch sorted for me.
8 pieces of Original Recipe Chicken
    6 Nuggets
    2 Large Chips
    2 Large Potato & Gravy
    2 Dipping Sauces

    Feeling a bit peckish…?

  • This is normal pricing, is it not? Have always paid $20.95 pick up for cheap as chips

    • +1

Deal is for free delivery normally worth $8.95

    • +1

      Benefits vs costs

Is it actually worth saving that $3 and have it fresh in store or pay it to save the hassle on fuel and time but then the food gets soggy

      • +2

I will prob be hungover as hell on sat when I wake up around 3pm so this is a no brainer

      • +2

I have an airfryer so it'll get refreshed ok…

      • This applies to every delivery order. As a deal, this is excellent, but everyone has their own preferences as to whether it's worth driving there or worth staying at home and ordering delivery.

      • Personally I don't want to eat in store, so I'm going to drive home with it anyway. Might as well get someone else to do the driving for me if I can!

      • I only eat KFC when hungover so this is perfect

  • +12

Last time I got this delivered I was missing my 2 sauces, I called them up and they refunded me 100% of the order.

  • -4

Man its that time when Obesity in australia will be high as F.
Dude Fast food so cheap compared to cooking at home now.

    • Honestly maccas is worse for me with the constant 10/15/20% off deals in app , and then the reward points to redeem for extra food is just icing on the cake. Makes it too easy.

      • +1

Dont forget $3/5 dominos pizzas which are a decent food serving

Man often you cannot even get like 1 decent sized indigent used in pizza for that price now, e.g. Capsicum average $11 a Kg

    • -1

I could feed 4 for well under $20 and it'd be better than this crap though

      • +2

Wanna share how ? if not it wont really be any useful how you can feed 4 for <$20

        • Well all the usual stuff I'd make (massaman, bolognese, egg fried rice, various pastas) would be less than this. Fortunately carrots, potatoes, pasta, rice, tinned tomatoes, chickpeas, beans etc are still cheap. Certainly it's getting more expensive but $5 each is pretty achievable.

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: That's just a load of carbs, anything with fresh vegetables and meat and you are well and truly over $20.

            • +1

@azukay: Carrots are like $1.50 a kg, frozen veg is cheap, chicken is reasonable… and carbs, so what? We're comparing to kfc here.

              • -3

@[Deactivated]: Carrot is still full of carbs, chicken is still $10 a kg. Try feeding a family of teenagers. Nothing wrong with KFC if eaten in moderation, especially with active teenagers they will burn through the calories in no time.

                • +1

@azukay: Be fair though, this meal is 1 chicken, you can buy a whole chicken at a supermarket for $10.

      • +2

4? Mate I’m flat out feeding myself on this meal.

      • antenna, you only have to have a quick check of your history to see you are a fan of other junk food such as Dominos. Get off your high horse. We all know what healthy food is, this is fine in moderation as a bit of a treat on the weekend.

        • -2

I was responding to fast food being cheap compared to cooking at home, which is really not the case. And of course it's crap, as is Dominos. But no high horse here, most everyone eats crap now and again.

      • You can feed 4 people for pretty cheap that's true, but I want to see you replicate the above meal deal for < $20 and factor in the value of food delivery…

  • +3

Sorry - we don't deliver to your address yet :(

    • +1

      sad :(

    • +1

Neither… just regional things where you're one suburb over from the "actual" town but only 5 minutes drive. :(

  • +1

Nice, this is the go to meal for the family, price to kilojoules this is the best. I usually drive to get it but defs a deal if it's only the marginal delivery menu mark up.

  • +2

    "I don't care!"
    Bloody ads

    • +2

Stupid but got a real way of sticking in your mind.

      • +2

The ads or more specifically the slogan is intentionally designed to override your internal defenses against eating KFC.

"I shouldn't be eating all this junk food.."
        "I don't care, I love it!"

"They're all so high in saturated fats.."
        "I DON'T CAR-"

It's even effective against external criticism:

"I can't believe people eat this slop.."
        "I DO-"

        "You people call this food?"
        "I-"

At this point these jingles or slogans are just ways of manipulating thought patterns, when it's backed up with catchy music it has a way of sticking in your memory for longer which advertising companies are aware of. I bet everytime you read "I don't care, I love it!" the music also played in your head didn't it?

Anyway just pointing this out, I don't care if people eat it or not.

  • +1

    oh yes KFC, thanks OP

  • Is the app working for everyone? It won't let me complete my order, and gives me an error

  • Can you pre order with this?

    • +2

I’ve stepped through the order till just before checkout but it seems like no u cannot schedule. The deal is on all weekend so no rush.

  • +4

How is it free delivery when it costs $3 more than pick up? I mean it is a pretty decent deal but saying free delivery is a bit misleading (not bashing OP, it actually says free delivery in the app).

    • +4

Delivery menu prices are higher, and there's delivery charges on top of that.

      • ^

      • +2

I'm assuming the delivery menu prices are higher to cover the cost of the delivery though. So it's still misleading to say it's free.

        • +1

It'd be more to cover the commission that Door Dash take out to accept the order and deliver. You're still saving $8.95 by having 'free' delivery.

  • Only downside is that its original recipe, be good if you could swap for tenders or something

    • +3

      What? You can swap it.
      Go to drop down.
      Click the green pen.
Minus out the chicken, select your alternative.
I just changed it to 8 tenders and there is no surcharge.

  • wish they bring back hot and spicy crispy crispy chicken in vic ☹️

    • +4

Finally, something QLD has over Vic. Haha

    • SA has been starved of this for years, we have only known no spice wicked wings

  • +1

Who remembers the old mother's Day meals.

When I was a kid I swear it came with a black Forest cake and have some kfc branded drink jugs that came with the meals.
