5000 Player Points for Existing Customers @ OzGameShop (CHECK YOUR E-MAIL)

610

Pretty decent deal, got an e-mail yesterday, just had to click a link and login to my OzGameshop account, and received 5000 player points ($5)

"GOOD NEWS! We've added 5,000 player points to your account! As an extra big thank you to all our awesome customers, we've added FIVE THOUSAND points to everyone's account! No catch, no hook - just claim your free Player Points now!"

EDIT: I logged into my account this morning and found the 5000 points before even getting the email…from the rep on Whirlpool:

"this is something we're doing for everyone :) We're rolling them out in bunches, but everyone will get the points eventually. It's just our way of saying thank you to our loyal fans!"

^^ Thanks to kirt

…meaning you would have to be an existing customer who had more than likely purchased something previously.

Edit: It is awesome of Ozgameshop to do this though :)

    • Thanks. I have updated the description. Seems that we will all be getting them eventually. I got mine when I logged in.

  • Worked for me, but from the email link.
Comparing my link, to the one from OP, I'm guessing M=xxxxxxxxx is the member number? N=xxxx is also different.
Link is obviously suss: Routing thru some link/click catcher "www.mmtrackj.co.uk"

    Received my 5000 points yesterday. This is what one of the reps said on whirlpool regarding the points;

"Yep, this is something we're doing for everyone :) We're rolling them out in bunches, but everyone will get the points eventually. It's just our way of saying thank you to our loyal fans!"

So i guess if you haven't received them yet, just wait a bit longer :)

wfm. thanks for the heads-up. normally I ignore these emails :)

  • -3

How is this a bargain? It's for existing customers who don't have to do anything.

  • +1

It's definitely not a phish. Checked my account by going to the website via my browser and not clicking the link. Sure enough 5000 points. Good one.

  • +1

no email and nothing added to my account yet. 5000 points allows you to get a $5 off voucher/credit from them.

    From their website :-

"How much are Player Points worth?

1,000 points is equal to $1.00.

You can redeem your points for a money-off voucher as soon as you have 5,000 points ($5.00).

However, if you save your Player Points up, we'll reward you with special bonus payments - potentially giving you an extra $5.00 reward! "

There is a table below this but wont format here , so you have to read it vertically in one column !!

    Voucher Value

    Points Required

    Bonus Amount

    $5.00

    5,000

    $0.00

    $10.00

    9,500

    $0.50

    $20.00

    19,000

    $1.00

    $25.00

    23,000

    $2.00

    $50.00

    45,000

    $5.00

    • Check my description..

"this is something we're doing for everyone :) We're rolling them out in bunches, but everyone will get the points eventually. It's just our way of saying thank you to our loyal fans!"

  • Got mine, pity you can't just use what you have instead of block of 5000.

  • On a side note, does anyone know if Ozgameshop have a local distribution centre now? I pre-ordered Sniper Elite V2 from them which was posted last Thursday 3/5/12 and I got it yesterday 9/5/12, that's just 3 working days considering the public holiday!

    • Maybe this is why some people said they get their stuff right away!
I ordered a controller a month ago and still have nothing!
Punters luck or a sydney storeroom…?

  • they're bleeding me dry :P

  • Anything thats really cheap that I could use this on? ;)

  • Do you need to be signed up to their mailing list?

OZgameshop hand out is bigger than the bloody government, clearly they would do a better job on the budget front ;).

    Hey guys,

Tom from ozgameshop.com here. Just wanted to take a second to explain what's happening and why some people have the points and some don't, etc.

Firstly, this is 100% legitimate! We're giving away 5,000 Points ($5 worth) to everyone on ozgameshop.com

The reason some people are getting them before others is that we're basically doing it in batches. This way, it's a nice even distribution, and everyone gets the points eventually, without being an influx of orders (if we gave them all out at once, we'd probably run out of stock on loads of items).

Secondly, don't worry if you haven't received yours yet. The plan is to have everyone done by the end of next week. If we run slightly over, then don't be alarmed! You will get yours!

Thanks everyone for the support, this is just our way of giving something back :)

    Cheers, Tom

    • appreciate it, thanks!

    • thanks tom! keep up the good work you guys :)

    • From one Tom to another, cheers mate! You guys are doing a bang up job and long may it continue. :)

    • I logged in yesterday and the points weren't there.
I logged in this morning and my account had the extra 5000 points sitting there!

Thanks, from a satisfied customer :)

    • You guys are awesome. Already great prices, amazing distribution (a delivery that I expected to take two weeks in less than a week) and tremendous customer support. Thank you!

  • Another +1 vote here. Logged in. Started with 2500 odd points now up to 7500. Clearly demonstrated on my points history when you log in.!

    I anticipate a max payne 3 order…

  • On the "My player points page"

    Date - Info - Available
    9/05/2012 - A gift from ozgameshop.com - 5,000

  • I got mine today and used them to purchase a Website Design Program and only paid $1.24! What a good score!

  • +3

    5,000 points = $5

Not nearly as exciting as "5000" initially sounds, but still rather generous.

    • Looks like they are using the Zimbabwean approach. It's a bold move, we'll see if it pays off.

  • So can disloyal fans sign up now and get the free points?

  • -1

Nothing here either, only have the 785 points I already had =(

  • +4

Okay…how is this a bargain? Seriously, it's free points ot people who have an account. 'Check your email' isn't a bargain, this really belongs in the forums.

    • "Check your email, and get $5 off your next purchase" is a bargain.

      • "check your mail" is something you do anyway, not something you do especially for a bargain. I'm not saying it's not a good thing, it is, but it's not a 'bargain'.

        • "check your mail" is something you do anyway, not something you do especially for a bargain. I'm not saying it's not a good thing, it is, but it's not a 'bargain'.

You'd be surprised, some people never bother checking there e-mails. Or they could be using a different/ spam e-mail address.

This deal has gotten 50 +ve votes, meaning alot of OzB's appreciate the post, so there are probably quite a few that didn't check there e-mails (or the e-mail address that they used with OzgameShop)

        • You'd be surprised, some people never bother checking there e-mails. Or they could be using a different/ spam e-mail address.

I am surprised by the amount of votes, I got the email 10 hours before this was posted and I didn't think it was even worth it to post it in the forums.

        • So wait, it's a bargain by telling people to stop being lazy and check emails? Great logic there. The simple fact is that you don't need to do anything to get this, hence, not a bargain.

        • Well obviously, you have to actually buy something to get the bargain.

        • Sure, but you need to have bought something beforehand, not now.

        • No, I mean you need to buy something to get the discount, or else the points are useless.

  • +1

Yep, I got this as well! Just waiting for points from my last purchase… almost at 9500 points for $10 off.

  • still have not yet got any points.

  • got mine! not sure if it should be listed here as a bargain as it automatically comes in AND only for existing customer, but yay!

  • +1

Just got mine. Was eyeing Vita Lumines deal previously posted and this clinched the deal for me. Just ordered.

  • got mine earlier today, now the hard part save it or spend it

  • Yay! I got mine a few days ago when I checked :) Thanks very much OzGameShop!!

  • still havent received mine :(

    • That's because they took one look at you and said "it's a troll"!
