              @Yola:

At least once you sign up on the app you can operate it via the web

Sorry to revisit this but it seems some things can only be done via the web: e.g. notifications and some things only via the app: enabling/disabling locations/method when/how cards can be used. In hindsight, I see that I actually enabled my physical card before I'd received it probably even before it was even created. Not the best idea.

  • -1

Anybody knows when the credit will be applied in the account once eligible transactions approved ? I has Synergy bill approved on 23/6 but hasn't seen the credit. Thanks

    • +2

They only do it in batch, once a month. I think between 2-5. Mine was on the 3/6 (for May's transactions)

    • +2

from the description in this post.

"Cash back will be deposited into the member’s Everyday account in the first five days of a new month"

  • Probably a dumb question, which option shall I select at Aldi to save 0.5% surcharge after inserting the card?

I tried EFTPOS channel and got declined, twice.

    Thanks in advance

    • +1

Savings is what I normally use with my other cards but I'm yet to receive my physical Hiver card and try it at Aldi. It could have been a temporary issue at Aldi as EFTPOS was reported above as working and eligible for the cashback. The Aldi terminal software presents different interfaces depending on the card. With my usual card, the "CR", "SAV", "CHQ" function keys don't work and I need to enter a digit 1-3 to select an account. However, when I inserted a credit card due to brain fog on one occasion I got a nicer looking interfaces that indicated that the (soft?) function keys be used. The Aldi people kept blaming their system for being at fault but it was all my fault across a debit and credit card. I was really pleased that I had never gone through the procedure to enable contactless on the debit card when I finally figured it out.

If you still have the receipt can you tell us who the acquirer is for your Aldi? I think mine uses ANZ but I'll have to turn up a receipt to double check.

    • I believe it's option #2 but it says something about Savings on the description and then goes on to ask about a cashout amount.

If you select the wrong one (ie the surcharge applicable option) the terminal will advise a fee is applicable on the next screen.

      • +1

I believe it's option #2 but it says something about Savings on the description and then goes on to ask about a cashout amount.

That's what happens with my UBank card but perhaps other cards are different.

If you select the wrong one (ie the surcharge applicable option) the terminal will advise a fee is applicable on the next screen.

That's good. They really should do that for contactless too. The ACCC should give them more heat for describing the surcharge as a credit card surcharge when they apply it to debit cards too - which also incur them lower fees.

    • I think your card got flagged for fraud and is locked. You will need to call hiver to get it unlocked. It happened to me after some large transactions. Really annoying because no other bank has done this to me.

      • -1

Really annoying because no other bank has done this to me.

No other bank sets a stupid limit of $1K for debit transaction with PIN (which you have setup yourself), or for Apple Pay (with biometrics). smh

    • My physical Hiver card arrived and it got its first work out at Aldi. I inserted the card in the terminal and selected option #2 Savings. Contrary to what the cardboard holding the card says I couldn't find any specific card activation function in the app. You can control locations where cards can be used in the app though and I would have fiddled with those settings after they told me my card number after signing up. I can't recall whether the default settings block usage.

  • Unsure if they've done an app update, but I had no issues just signing up and enabling biometric login via Android.

    • Last updated Jun 16 according to the Play Store. I seem to be the only one to have had trouble. Did you happen to select PIN login before being prompted? Do you have a 'Biometrics' option under Security? I installed an app for another bank the other day and after being asked by that app for a PIN got the same pop up asking if I wanted to enable biometric login.

      • +1

I would have set a pin, and it then asked for biometrics, and yes a biometrics option (which is enabled) is shown under the settings area

        • So it seems my trouble getting it set up and lack of biometrics option is because I selected the member id login. Anyway, at least I somehow managed to set it up without that and hopefully this helps some one who is frustrated about not being prompted for biometric login.

          • @Stingo: That is correct. It's like that with other apps however they don't hide or have documentation that says users have to enter PIN or pattern before biometrics can be enabled.

            So to enable biometrics
            1. Enable PIN/Pattern
            2. Biometric option now shown - enable biometric.
  • so, it's the 5th today and no cashback is showing yet. Is it the first 5 business days, or 5 days, and might it come in tonight and show tomorrow? I paid the water bill and a few test things last month, so I should be getting some cashback this month. I made sure the water bill was done as a visa debit card payment.

Looks like system is not really automated since CB are staggered, some members have received theirs for June, and others haven't (I'm in the latter group)

  • +1

    Just got my June payout.

  • Still waiting for mine

  • Mine came through at 10:07 AEST.

  • still waiting for mine

  • Anyone else have issues logging into the app

    • mine say wrong pin…

  • +1

    Cashback came through this morning.
I have to say it was completely accurate even down to the cents.

  • I didn’t get any cash back, has anyone else not received yet?

    • First month of having the account. I haven't received cashback either.

    • Haven’t received either

    • Nothing for me too 😔

    • Just got mine!

It looks like they have updated their T&C.
6 Hiver members will earn 5% cash back for every dollar spent using their Hiver Visa Debit card (less refunds and excluding cash advances, cash withdrawals, other cash-related transactions, interest charges, fees, credit or debit adjustments) on the following categories: Grocery purchases (classified by Visa's 'Merchant Category Code' as 'grocery stores and supermarkets' MCC 5411; 'Freezer and Locker Meat Provisioners' - MCC 5422; 'Candy, Nut and Confectionery Stores' - MCC 5441; 'Dairy Products Stores' - MCC 5451; 'Bakeries' - MCC 5462; 'Miscellaneous Food Stores - Convenience Stores and Specialty Markets' - MCC 5499), Public transport (classified by Visa's 'Merchant Category Code' as 'commuter transport and ferries' - MCC 4111; 'passenger railways' - MCC 4112; 'bus lines' - MCC 4131), Bills (classified by Visa's 'Merchant Category Code' as 'Telecommunication Services' - MCC 4814; 'Utilities' - MCC 4900), Uniforms (classified by Visa's 'Merchant Category Code' as 'Uniforms, Commercial Clothing' - MCC 5137; 'Commercial Footwear' - MCC 5139) when purchases are made using mobile wallets (Apple pay, Samsung pay, Google pay), online and Paywave in-store up to a maximum of $250 per calendar year. Cash back will be deposited into the member’s Everyday account in the first five business days of a new month. This offer may be withdrawn or changed without notice.

    • When was it updated?

    • Possibly that was the original intention. Do we know whether EFTPOS transactions have previously qualified for the cash back despite showing the same MCC codes? Sucks to effectively lose part of the rebate due to merchant charges but fair enough I suppose.

      • +1

It's going to be hard to pay bills with tap though, so not sure how it'd enforce that going forward. I can confirm that my purchase from a couple of weeks ago didn't follow that yet (I got the correct cashback while inserting the physical card on majority of it)

        • Online purchases qualify for cashback according to the above. Or do you mean a purchase where the card is inserted in the terminal regardless of whether "SAV" or "CR" is chosen?

    • I called up Hiver about how to make large purchases and they said to enter the card in the machine and I did receive cashback for this purchase on 21 June. Although they assured me that there would be no problem when I tried to spend over $1000 that day it would not go through. So sounds like we may not be able to make large purchases instore? What is the daily limit for tap?

      • +1

tap and paywave is $ 500 per day, same as the mobile wallet
Insert and select credit or saving for larger purchase ( aka coles gift card a few weeks back, and I have max out my cash back )

        • Thanks but is the insert that they are now saying will not be eligible for the cashback.

        • +3

The limit is actually $500 per transaction, and it's imposed by Visa, rather than Hiver. I managed to do just over 1k with tap (split in 3 transactions) for the same Coles deal, before Visa blocked my card. It's a pain to get the correct CS from Hiver to unblock it though, so I suggest don't try to go over $500 per day unless u have no choice.

    • So theoretically if I'm capped at $500 due to the 'tap/paywave' methodology, I will be 'capped' at $500 x 7 worth of Coles Mastercard purchases. I could possibly pad it out with a split payment (via staff cashier) of 2 x $250 + 1 x $100 and split the total into $500 on HIVER and rest on AMEX each day though.
Annoying but not something I have to worry about for 12 months.

    • It isn't quit clear whether you could use EFTPOS via Apple Pay, and still receive cashback (e.g. at ALDI to circumvent the 0.5% card surcharge). I guess I will be finding out next month. It worked fine for all of June 2022.

Also, does anyone know when did the above new T&Cs come into effect?

      • nobody can answer that I guess, just have to see next month :)

  • +2

Got cashback overnight with account opened in June. You'll receive a SMS notification like normal deposit.

  • Finally received cashback this morning.

    • Same for me. It took 7 days but 5 business days.

      • Me too :)

  • I just wanted to check if I buy Myer gift cards (which are currently giving a bonus 10%, I should get the 5% back if I buy them from woolworths correct?

    • +1

Yes correct but make sure you read the updated T&C above

  • Looking at my transactions it looks like Hiver use the reverse convention compared to other banks. What Hiver calls an effective date is what other banks would call a statement or credit date and normally the main or only one available for statements while Hiver transactions highlight the processing date. The statement date is usually the one of consequence for interest rate calculations which is irrelevant for an account that doesn't pay interest but is of importance for the Saver which I don't use.

It looks like the cashback is based on the processing date. That's not much a surprise for Visa transactions where it would reflect the settlement date but what is a surprise is that the statement date can vary from the effective date for somw transactions where you'd expect that the date would be the same like fast payments and EFTPOS. I don't have enough transactions to decipher cut-off times but I can see fast payments and a EFTPOS purchase I made on Saturdays were processed on the Sunday.

  • VIC: Marketplace Fresh grocer should work as MCC falls under "Grocery, Supermarkets".

Have transfered some money into hiver account via payid but hasn't arrived. Anyone has the same issue?

    • I think they have issue recently. The last one I did on Wed morning took more than 24 hours to arrive. Were always instant last month

    • +1

Few transfers I've done before via fast transfer have been instant.

Did one now and it's not. If they have issues supporting fast transfer it's definitely going to make it much more annoying to use this account :/

      • Following day, still not there.
Looks like their fast transfers aren't working now :/

        • I did some yesterday that worked.

          • @Yola: I still have same issue. Transferred yesterday morning, nothing yet

            • @hanofee: I noticed the same. Instant transfers no longer working

              • @Bekay: Took almost 24hr for me. Sent yesterday, got it today.

I had to use beem it to transfer yesterday.

                • @timhn: I transfered on Friday but haven't seen it yet.

        • Logged into Internet banking earlier today. 'Account Activity/Statements' and 'Self Service/Manage PayID' pages weren't working properly. After a while they worked, successfully pointed PayID at Saver (just in case of delayed transfer) about 90 minutes ago, did test fast transfer. Worked. Did another larger one. Worked. Transferred funds to Everyday. Successfully did an online VISA purchase.

          • @Stingo: It made no difference pointing my Hiver PayID to the S7 (Saver) account.
Their Osko implementation is currently broken.

        • just did a $1 transfer test (Fast Transfer, from uBank) and it worked, but my transfer over the weekend still hasnt shown up :/

          • @SBOB: thanks, just tried too, exact same result. the one just now arriving instantly, but still no show for the one over the weekend (both from UP)

            • @hanofee: My $200 transaction from yesterday hasn’t come through yet. Just put a $1 transaction and it went through right away. Then put another $120 thinking it would work but it hasn’t.

I contacted them on their support number and was told to contact my original bank…

              • +1

@Bekay: they clearly have an issue and its not the sending bank problem

                • @SBOB: Live chat support is adamant I need to speak to my sending banks about the delayed transfers. :(

                  • @DoctorCalculon: I assume it should end up in either your Hiver or returned to your sending bank account sooner or later. I'd guess by whatever time tomorrow Hiver process today's transactions. So much for Osko SLA's for anyone that used Osko. SCT has a less strict SLA. I think legacy UBank only supports SCT while :ubank supports Osko.

                    • +2

                      @Stingo:

I think legacy UBank only supports SCT while :ubank supports Osko.

Fast payments via SCT are supported only if you use the mobile app for legacy UBank.

                  • @DoctorCalculon: It's possible. Or can be something wrong with Osko too, as I actually have quite a few delays paying from UP (not only to Hiver). I asked UP and surely they blame the other parties. I switched back to transfer from CBA for now, seems to be better result. Having said that, my transfer from UP to Hiver yesterday was instant, while the one over the weekend still nowhere to be seen (and not returned neither)

                  • @DoctorCalculon: It is absolutely Hiver. I have several accounts with other banks and transfer to and from my NAB account. Hiver is the only one I've had an issue with. In fact, I have a bank that doesn't do fast payments and transfers to and from that account are faster than to Hiver (haven't done much transferring from, not sure how that is working).

It is taking up to 3 days, though all of the payments have eventually come through. I haven't tried transferring from anywhere except NAB, but NAB is working fine with my other banks.

ETA- for the last week or so intermittently. Was working fine before that and sometimes works fine now.

                    • @Miss B: I can confirm, all my funds arrived after long delay too. The two I did over the weekend, were in my Hiver acc last night.

                    • @Miss B: Out of interest, does the transaction detail of the delayed payments indicate they were received as NPP payments?

                      • @Stingo: Yep, says "Osko transfer"

                        • +1

@Miss B: Thanks. Does the received time match when it was sent or the processed date? Or something else. Just curious if the NPP tried for N days to deliver or the stuff up was Hiver's internal processing. The Osko NPP overlay has a stricter delivery requirements than the basic NPP fast payment mechanism (SCT)..

                          • @Stingo: The time shown in the transaction details is the same time as the text message saying it was deposited (which seems to be accurate, I'd been checking periodically and it wasn't there earlier). So when it was received, not when it was sent.

The NPP transaction ID starts with NATAAU33XXXN20220715.. it was sent on the 15th and received on the 18th. If that makes any difference.

                            • @Miss B: Does anyone know what the NPP transaction ID can tell you? Is NAT mean its from NAB bank?

                              • +1

@brisdaz: One of the NAB group probably. The alpha numerics up to the N match up to the SWIFT code the bank I sent my funds from uses.

                            • @Miss B: Thanks. No smoking gun that I was hoping for. I'll have to see if I can turn up anything on what bounds Osko places on delivery, if any, before funds are returned.

      • Looks like Hiver have had outage issues, see https://hiver.bank/contact/outage/

      • Fast payment was still broken yesterday. It's been 24 hours and my transfer is still not showing.

Guess I will use Beem from now on…

    • +2

A few days ago I did a transfer that didn't work, then one that did, so I did another one and that didn't. So the 2nd one was instant, 3rd one came in the next day, 1st one came in a few hours after the 3rd. I then did a few transfers over a period of time and all were successful. I thought everything was fixed so tried another transfer on Friday and still haven't received it. Not going to bother using it until they figure out what they're doing.

  • +1

Comments above mention $500 contactless payment limit either per day or per transaction. After spending $500 at Woolworths to buy gift cards, card was declined at two other places (didn't have the physical card with me and had to use another card) so at least for me, it looks like limit is per day.

Does anyone else have problems logging into the app? When I'm at home using home Wi-Fi I can log in fine but when I'm out using mobile data I always get an error.

  • I tried signing up, put my TFN in and then it just said "Thank you", no other message.

Have not received account confirmation yet.

    • @EG Did you finally get the welcome email? I have the same message ("Thank You") as you after put my TFN and submitted it for sign-up today. Please let me know, Thanks!

  • +2

    From https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12412590/redir

I've asked Hiver to put the Merchant Category in the CSV download. Perhaps you can do the same?

  • How do you add the card to Google Pay? The only option to verify is to call the bank but when you call there is no option that lets you talk to someone, it just keeps referring to the website FAQ or to send them an email.

    • +1

If you have a Samsung phone, adding to Samsung Pay is easier.

For cards that can be added to Samsung Pay, I prefer Samsung Pay over Google Pay because it doesn't have strict ID requirements, meaning I can easily add my card to my family members' phones. When I tried adding a family member's card to my Google Pay account, my payment profile got suspended and I had to provide ID documents to verify my identity.

      • I've added both our cards (different accounts) on my Google Pay.

  • Does anyone know whether contactless transactions qualify for cashback when they are least cost routed via EFTPOS? According to the current rules they would seem not to. Inserting the card and explicitly selecting credit looks also not to qualify. Using Google Pay looks to be a work around for those stores but I'd rather not carry an additional device.

    • Nobody knows for sure until early next month when we get our cashback. Yes, they do change the wording as u said, but let’s see

    • EFTPOS and credit will both count as cash back,I think someone posted something above…

      • +1

They've updated the T&Cs to say it's credit only now. Eftpos definitely worked last month, but probably won't this month.

        • +1

          ah…… thanks:D
I have maxed out my 250 already. so next year :D

        • But will insert (visa debit) still count? Or purely tap only?

          • @hanofee: They only mention tap, paywave and online payments, so I'm not sure.

    • @stingo

Inserting the card and explicitly selecting credit looks also not to qualify.

Why not? It's then routed through the scheme networks.

      • You could ask the same question to HSBC, no?

      • Just from my reading of the current T&C no more. Unless I'm mistaken the transaction detail includes whether the transaction was contactless or not.
