[PC, Steam] Dying Light 2 A$71.96 (Was A$89.95) @ Steam

60

Been waiting for this to drop a bit in price, since it launched
I Enjoyed the first game and this one has been holding price (which I take in this current times, its actually worth the cost unlike some 2042..)

From what I have watched / read, if you enjoyed the first game, this will be also enjoyable

  • I have a dyling light 2 code from the MSI promo, if anyone wants to buy that off me feel free to DM me - pretty sure I can directly transfer the code since its just a steam code.

time to test if 28degrees price protection works for steam games

I can confirm that you can claim with your 28d card, have done it a few times with some other games. About to do the same with this one.

I bought DL2 at launch, I would suggest holding off and waiting for a lower price unless you are super keen. The game is pretty meh at this point, it doesn't seem to have the same kind of magic spark that the first game did. The story (which I realise isn't the franchise's strong point anyway) is a mess, and the open world is remarkably repetitive. I really struggled to finish this game because I found it so dull in the latter parts, I clocked up 68 hours all up in my single playthrough, doing maybe 70% of the side quests.

Maybe in 2-3 years it'll be a great game, but at the moment it is neither great nor bad, just meh. It's been a disappointing game for me, I expected great things after the first Dying Light.

    • I bought and finished the first one last year, coop and it was awesome.

Maybe in 2-3 years it'll be a great game

How would it get better in 2-3 years? If the openworld is repetitive and the story is a mess, wouldn't that still be the case if I buy it in 2-3 years?

Also, how long does it usually take for games like this to get to < $30? (I usually only buy games a few years later because they're cheaper).

Techland has traditionally been excellent at supporting their games and adding new content… so I'm hoping they'll flesh out the open world with more activities/locations etc like they did with the original DL. The story will remain a mess, but if the gameplay is good it doesn't really matter.

I'd say maybe 1.5-2 years or so. Will probably drop to $45-50 within the first year (occasional sale, not permanent price drop).

Even though this price is an all time low for the game, it probably will drop to at least below ~$50 in the near future. Most games do within a year or so, a few months or weeks even depending on the reception of the game. If you're not 'dying' (lol) to play the game, wait a bit longer for the price to drop.

  • Great game. Parkour moves and ways to brutalise enemies (zombies and humans) are second to none. Highly recommended! Patches are coming fast which takes the game to another level. Latest (much requested) addition is the NG+ which makes revisiting the game a must.
