Who Gets Discounts with Tint-a-Car?

New car, need window tinting. In the past I had a friend who used to work for Qantas and got -$100 discount for window tinting but unfortunately they no longer work for Qantas.

Just wondering if anyone is aware of any organisations or ways to also get a discount from tint a car?

May last year they had $100 off got 2 cars done.

    • I'm open to keeping my eyes open for a deal… good idea to setup an alert I guess.

The tint-a-car where I live is not good and has low quality products. My brothers expensive tint is peeling after 3-4 years. We go through a locally owned company that has much better stock and prices ($100-200 cheaper) depending on the vehicle. I’d ask around and see if there’s any other good companies in your area

Tint-a-car is supposed to have a lifetime warranty against bubbling and peeling. My last car literally had 10 years without issue.

So that's a real bummer about your experience, guess the newbie did your car :S

      • It’s my brothers car so I didn’t know about the warranty, but by the sounds of it they’ve been painful to try and get to deal with it haha. It’s like any franchise I guess, some good, some bad!

        • If you complain to head office I'm sure they will want to hear about it and fix it.

Not sure where you live but check Groupon
They often have decent deals in major cities
    Check the reviews aren’t bogus

Whatever discount you have, get a quote on the prices before mentioning you have a discount code. And then see if the final "discounted" price is actually discounted.

  • I had used tint a car previously and while the work was okay I found the price to be exorbitant. It was in a relatively posh area (if that makes any difference).

If I could go around again, I'd look at alternatives but also check what tint they use.

    • Got a quote, and they ARE expensive. Reconsidering…

"I have included the specifications below for some of our most popular films for you so you can make a decision with all the facts. The biggest difference between the films is heat rejection. Darkest legal means we fit a 35% film to the front 2 windows and a darker 20% film to all of the rear glass.

Spectre Ceramic is our highest heat reduction film and Darkest Legal and is priced at $560.00. Our current promotional price is $460.00. (This includes our current and RAC discount.)

      Spectre offers *99% UV Protection
      *<68% Glare Reduction
      *88% IR Heat Rejection
      *<63% Solar Heat Rejection
      *UPF50+ Cancer Council Tested

Octane is our other Darkest Legal film priced at $460.00. Our current promotional price is $360.00. (This includes our current and RAC discount.)

      Octane offers *99% UV Protection
      *<62% Glare Reduction
      *<55% Solar Heat Rejection

All of our films are covered by the same nationwide lifetime ownership warranty.

The films are produced in America and our installers have many years' experience.

We would need the car for approximately 5 hours to complete the tint installation.

We have a free loan vehicle available for your use (booked by appointment) while we work on your vehicle. We have EFTPOS facilities and OpenPay or Zip Pay (conditions apply) available and are open from 7:00am Monday to Friday."

      • That's not a bad price for them. For context, I got stung 600ish. Never again.

  • If you’re in Melbourne, I highly recommend Happy Tint. 100x better than Tint a Car, and their pricing was cheaper too

  • Any recommendations for Syd?

      Protekt Auto - https://www.protektauto.com.au/window-tinting

They pre-cut the film with a computerised plotter so it fits exactly to the window edge of your specific model

Had mine installed 4.5 years ago, always parked outside, no fading/peeling/bubbling

      • Cheers mate! All % visibility same price?

        • Give them a call, most tint shops expect to have the chat about lowest legal + 1-2 steps below legal
