You can get this off ebay (no installation required)

or there's the 24 litre (this is the one I got)-

It's EXCELLENT. Get the replacement filter at the same time, saves on postage.
Either get a filter that accepts standard sized 10" cartridges (2: polyprop and carbon), or don't bother.
I second that.
A real ozbargainer would just hook one of those strait up onto a tap.
Gets the job done.
Can you provide a link/recommendation?
There are undersink and countertop systems on ebay for less than $100.
Get dual-filter, with standard 10" cartdridges.
I just saw that "Digi Pure 9000s" on ebay, and they make some BS claims.
The old "Research shows that you need at least 8 glasses of water every day to regulate your body temperature and get rid of toxins accumulated during daily life." - a lie, or old wives tale at best.
I'd assume you must be in a rental if you want a countertop unit?
Otherwise, under-sink is better, and not hard to install DIY.
any suggestion on a good under sink filter easy to install but effective ?
Manic yeah on rental,so have very little choice, only can look at digi pure such product. Which claim up to 5 nm. Not sure how effective that is.
They are all effective. It is a question of for how long, and at what cost. Again, I recommend standard 10" twin cartridges.
Do these take out the fluride? I think it is a good thing for teeth.
Most if not all charcoal based filters don't filter out fluoride (and IIRC they don't filter out heavy metals either)
No, salts are not affected unless you get reverse osmosis.
If you are on a normal municipal water supply, you just want the 2-stage.
The charcoal will filter out unpleasant tastes, including chlorine.
I guess many just live with the salt in the water. RO is too expensive
I am against these filters They miss a lot of vitamins
I have this one http://www.esold.com.au/water-filtration-system-twin-stage-k…
works well and easy to install
